This time of year usually brings up warm memories for people where I'm from. Thoughts of lights, cakes, visiting with family, parties, whatever. Everyone gets festive in their own way, right? But for me, I'm missing out on the most important thing about the winter holidays.

Crunchy fried bird.

I've searched all over for the best fried chicken available, but I'm at a loss. Nothing comes close to the secret spiced recipe that I'm craving. So do your part to help save Christmas, and tell me where I can get a bucket that doesn't taste like the bird is part fish. Or worse.

We had a particularly good fried pheasant recipe back home that I remember most of the spices for, but the cooking staff were the ones actually responsible for making it. I would not consider myself a terrible cook, but I cook more for practicality than anything...

What I mean to say is if you find a good restaurant, please tell me, as well. I am hungry for it as well...

That sounds great. I don't think I've ever had pheasant. We're in the same boat though, I can make enough food to survive on, but I wouldn't want to eat my stuff for the holidays.

I found a bucket of something that looked just like the original recipe goodness. It tasted like a chicken had a baby with a sardine.

Gotta keep searching.

it's this little place with red and blue neon signs and two koi ponds outside ... kinda close to the edge of the district. it's pretty extra, but i think if they're that good they can afford to be extra.

Pheasant is just a bit trickier to get right, as it tends to be leaner than chicken. I’ve dried it out more than once when I cooked more often...

I thank you for that. It does seem that there are plenty of good restaurants here, but going through them all can be daunting.

That's the problem. We've got a lot of options, but nothing that I recognize. So I'm hoping that someone in the known can point me in the right direction.

With a city as big as this, I do have to wonder if there are restaurants that specialize specifically in wild game... or is that too archaic? It seems like there’s a strong agricultural presence, so perhaps hunting isn’t considered necessary.

Well, I will keep looking as well. Even if not every restaurant will be a stellar experience, I believe it is good to keep trying new things.
