☽ III: video

[The video turns on to show a view of the apartments of Level 2 from what seems to be a fairly high vantage point looking down, as if the device is on a roof. While the user isn't visible on camera those familiar with Vanitas will probably recognize the doctor's voice.]

So many of you are fine with accepting that there's no way out of this place. Are you that easily distracted and complacent about being used by the Prismals? Do you just not have anything to go back to? Or maybe you just don't have something that this damned place is keeping you from doing...

[He laughs bitterly before stopping just as abruptly, voice dipping to almost a whisper.]

... Tch. Why am I wasting my breath?

[The video abruptly ends.]

[ this had been a curious post to see, it seemed like this person was very frustrated. something she could understand, but she herself was not very good at displaying in quite the same way. ]

It sounds like you have something very important to go back home too, how long have you been here?

[ it seemed safer to start off with something easy and light, right? getting the basics down ]

I've been talking to some of the residents here, and so far I haven't heard of anyone being able to go back home willingly, so Miwako wouldn't know where to start in trying to leave.

Nearly ten months.

[That bitterness is still clear in his voice and he snorts, although the irritation isn't directed specifically at Miwako.]

I've been looking into it since arriving and if there's any information on leaving they're hiding it. But why would they tell us when we're supplying them with Chroma? They have no reason to let us go so easily.

That's a long time to be away from home... what kind of place is it? What kind of people do you have back there?

[ luckily enough miwako isn't too deterred by his tone, it was easy enough to keep talking to him to figure things out. more than that, she felt like maybe talking might help him a little. ]

I remember them talking about our ability to generate chroma and how much they need it... but even in that regard Miwako is very useless. I have someone very important back at home, and I don't think he would be happy to know that I've been doing things like that with other people.

Miwako would like to help anyone that's in need... but helping other people while hurting someone else seems wrong. Maybe if there were a way we could come and go freely it wouldn't be so bad...

I'm from France, although that might or might not mean anything to you. [He's encountered both fellow natives and those who have never even heard of it, after all. But he doesn't really answer the second part of that question, if only because he's not really in the mood to argue with someone else about the existence of vampires.]

I don't know what you've been told, but it isn't necessary to go very far to generate Chroma. While I'm not a fan of playing into whatever little game it is or being their test subject I'm also not interested in letting myself get crystallized.

[Vanitas actually chuckles then, the laughter just as abrupt as before.]

But then again I can empathize with your struggle! The woman I love is back home as well.

Miwako isn't from there, but I am a big fan... It's such a beautiful country! The food, the language, fashion and the architecture...

[ there was a blink and a fluster ]

A-ah! Well, Miwako wasn't thinking of sexy playtime or anything, but... It's kind of difficult to explain. Arashi doesn't feel comfortable with me getting too close to people in anyway that seems a little too friendly.

[ oh, but someone who does understand at least a little bit ]

Really? I'm sorry you have to be so far away from the woman you love, what kind of woman is she?

[Vanitas does finally peek into the camera at that, an eyebrow raised in slight surprise although he also looks bewildered.]

I've never heard of someone being a "fan" of a country, it's a little odd. But it I suppose it can be beautiful, especially the cities. [The countryside he could take or leave.]

Oh? He sounds like a jealous one.

[He looks away again but there's a brief hint of a smile on his lips.]

Hmm... Well she's beautiful and delicate, but can also be fierce and temperamental. It all suits her perfectly.

Oh it's very common at home! Western culture in general is very popular where I'm from, but some of the biggest places people look to are France, Italy and the UK! Someday Miwako hopes to go and experience the cities... It seems so glamourous.

[ there's that touch of a fluster, brushing some of that loose pink hair back ]

We've had some misunderstandings in the past... so it seems a little difficult for Arashi to be trusting.

But your lover sounds amazing... like the very definition of a French beauty, it sounds like you love her a great deal. You must be a beautiful couple when you're together.

Hm... I suppose Paris is something of a popular tourist destination.

[But he's been there so often the charm is perhaps not quite the same for him.]

Oh? Well it sounds like you should be careful with your own trust, Mademoiselle. It's a two-way street, after all.

[Of course this is coming from someone pretty untrustworthy.]

I do. [He laughs.] And I would be inclined to agree~

I'm sure it's different because you live there, but I'm sure there's still special parts of you that you wouldn't want to be without.

[ she couldn't help but blink at that bit advice though, the tilt of her head as she thought on it ]

Thank you for being thoughtful... But I'm not worried about my trust, it might take him a while... but I believe in him.

How did you meet? You and your love? Was it a romantic encounter?

Hmph. Perhaps.

Well he's quite a lucky man to have someone with your patience around... Many can't say that.

[He laughs] It was! She was trying to kill me you see... And while I had heard legends of her upon seeing her in the flesh my heart was stricken- I knew it was love!

[ do you see that vanitas, that is a look of concern--is this something scary? or maybe something like a dramatic romantic build up?? ]

Why was she trying to kill you? You fell in love with her, but did she like suddenly fall in love with you in he heat of the moment?

[What do you mean there's something scary?? This is fine.]

We just had jobs that happened to clash a little bit, but we worked through our problems so it's fine~ And I'm not sure if she did, but she can't seem to bring herself to stay apart from me for long.
