[The video turns on to show a view of the apartments of Level 2 from what seems to be a fairly high vantage point looking down, as if the device is on a roof. While the user isn't visible on camera those familiar with Vanitas will probably recognize the doctor's voice.]

So many of you are fine with accepting that there's no way out of this place. Are you that easily distracted and complacent about being used by the Prismals? Do you just not have anything to go back to? Or maybe you just don't have something that this damned place is keeping you from doing...

[He laughs bitterly before stopping just as abruptly, voice dipping to almost a whisper.]

... Tch. Why am I wasting my breath?

[The video abruptly ends.]

Many people here might enjoy this world over their own home worlds, but hell no if I'm going to allow this one to keep me from figuring out how the cogs of this world works and haul my ass back home.

Well, yeah? I wouldn't say that most people consider this a 'kidnapping', though; at least, not in the same sense that it was like, malicious or hell, even on purpose.

But that's just. . . 'as far as we're aware', anyway.

I can't imagine how else someone would define what happened. Just because the Prismals won't admit to doing to doing it purposefully that doesn't mean that it wasn't.

And even if it was they're still certainly taking advantage of the situation and don't seem that eager or willing to investigate sending us back.

At first I thought it was a question worth asking, then I realized that most of the answers I would get would probably be useless.

Oh? That would make us a part of the minority as far as I can tell. But as long as I'm here I can't finish my work and lazing about here waiting for whatever they're planning is wasting precious time.

Yes, I know how that feels. [After all, the first time he arrived in this universe, they were in the middle of cleaning up the mess remaining from their big mission to save humanity.]

What is your work, if I may?

I'm a doctor.

[He's leaving out the crucial bit of information about exactly what he's a doctor for, but he's come to learn that generally the explanation is more trouble than it's worth. And he's not in the mood to debate the existence of vampires. Again.]

Currently in my world there's a rising number of cases of a disease that only I possess the cure for, so as you can imagine I have much better things to be doing.

Do you think I wouldn't share that if I had a credible answer aside from the obvious one?

But not knowing for certain doesn't mean I'm content to just sit around being the test subject of these people for as long as it's convenient for them, regardless of whether or not they claim to know how we all got here.

[ this had been a curious post to see, it seemed like this person was very frustrated. something she could understand, but she herself was not very good at displaying in quite the same way. ]

It sounds like you have something very important to go back home too, how long have you been here?

[ it seemed safer to start off with something easy and light, right? getting the basics down ]

I've been talking to some of the residents here, and so far I haven't heard of anyone being able to go back home willingly, so Miwako wouldn't know where to start in trying to leave.

Nearly ten months.

[That bitterness is still clear in his voice and he snorts, although the irritation isn't directed specifically at Miwako.]

I've been looking into it since arriving and if there's any information on leaving they're hiding it. But why would they tell us when we're supplying them with Chroma? They have no reason to let us go so easily.

I've been trying to find something solid for nearly ten months, but information is conveniently difficult to come by without the right connections in the government.

That's a long time to be away from home... what kind of place is it? What kind of people do you have back there?

[ luckily enough miwako isn't too deterred by his tone, it was easy enough to keep talking to him to figure things out. more than that, she felt like maybe talking might help him a little. ]

I remember them talking about our ability to generate chroma and how much they need it... but even in that regard Miwako is very useless. I have someone very important back at home, and I don't think he would be happy to know that I've been doing things like that with other people.

Miwako would like to help anyone that's in need... but helping other people while hurting someone else seems wrong. Maybe if there were a way we could come and go freely it wouldn't be so bad...

Have you considered that some here do not feel 'stuck' here? Yes, perhaps we cannot go back, but some are living their lives here as they might anywhere else. Why does it trouble you so much that they do not see or believe something insiduous in all this?

I'm from France, although that might or might not mean anything to you. [He's encountered both fellow natives and those who have never even heard of it, after all. But he doesn't really answer the second part of that question, if only because he's not really in the mood to argue with someone else about the existence of vampires.]

I don't know what you've been told, but it isn't necessary to go very far to generate Chroma. While I'm not a fan of playing into whatever little game it is or being their test subject I'm also not interested in letting myself get crystallized.

[Vanitas actually chuckles then, the laughter just as abrupt as before.]

But then again I can empathize with your struggle! The woman I love is back home as well.
