[It's been almost a month since her arrival. Nike has sensed the changes within the world and heard the voices from the natives. All of it felt oddly welcoming, a little sweet, maybe unsettling by the sudden waves of energy coming from the moons-filled nights, and maybe a little fear and some anxiety in-between especially after the events of the amphitheater. Which was happily taken care of. But now it was her turn to experience the next phase of the moon which was just around the corner...]

...um, I hope I'm doing this right. First time using such a....impersonal item. Something about using this to talk to a lot of people. Like using a microphone...? Just without the singing?

[That was the best way for her medieval mind to go around it. Just ignore the fact her country was far too advanced in a world that shouldn't be. A detail she has learned the reason of, but wasn't important right now.]

Um, right, so...I'm Nike. I arrived a while ago. And I was wondering: is there somewhere I can go when my phase of the moon pops up? Like a safe place I can hide away in...? I'm sorta alone. I don't have many people I trust here and those I do...I may have messed things up...

[By aggressively attacking their ears, going overboard with flattering, and just simply being more clingy than usual. Even she is embarrassed by it but he happened to look insanely gorgeous that day, more than usual....not that it was an excuse but...]

Anyway, is there anyone with powers similar to mine? Like sensing their surroundings and knowing what a large group of people feel? Or are able to hear the planet's voice or influence? I've been...having some trouble. I don't know how to explain it.... [More like she's been feeling very uncomfortable with herself, getting easily irritable, feeling more self-conscious than usual, and yet staring at herself more than she would like. Not to mention the cold chills traveling her spine and arms.]

Is it normal for your body to feel so cold while feeling pretty warm? Or just agitated in general? I don't know what to do...or expect. Any advice would be very appreciated.

[How should she end this? Um.....she's turning this off like now because what is talking to herself? This is weird. She doesn't like this.]

CONCENTRATING ON THE NEXT PART. YES. GOOD. TELEPATHY. THAT IS HER AREA OF EXPERTISE.

Which was interesting to learn. Someone with the power to have a telepathic conversation with anyone and anything. So interesting! What do things think about? Like books? Ships? Maybe even guns? Do they like being used for violent purposes? So many questions, but his next one will leave her just as pensive.]

Huh? That's a good question actually.

[Would they still be considered dead or spirits? In that weird line of existence. Hm.]

In all honesty, I consider myself to be alive, but as a spirit than human. [FOR MANY, MANY, MANY REASONS, but...] I could be wrong too. After all, a spirit does not feel the urge to survive by eating, drinking, sleeping, or bathing. They don't need any of it. [And yet...] It'd be hypocritical to consider myself human when I renounced it.

[But in terms of her new friend.]

I wanna consider you a living spirit as well. [And even then.] You are clearly a living being, even if you don't seem like one. I'd like to find out if I could share a connection with you. Do you mind if I ask you to be my rain partner?

[And with that Nike will happily go shopping and won't appear until a couple of hours later. A knock, that may sound harder than intended, will be given onto the door. Guess who decided to buy almost the entire supermarket with all the bags she is holding in both arms.]

Sorry I'm late! I decided to do some odd jobs before getting enough for this haul!

[She brought so many different types of fruit toppings, whip cream, peanut butter, cookies, nuts, oatmeal, honey, and so on.]

I am! Didn't I warn you earlier? I wasn't going to use a filter with you!

[It's okay! Nike is on the same page with him. A little too proudly. Maybe a good thing he can't see her current grin right now.]

Oh! Then I'm Nike Lemercier. Used to be the fourth sovereign princess of my country, I almost became the queen candidate for the World King until I decided to become a World Guardian instead. [The best one-sentence summary of her life and past year.] How about you? What's your name?

[Yup, telepathy... They could go back to the whole Iris and the heat thing later, or maybe not.

It's quite the weird line of existence he's been thrust into... Like her, he still needs his basic necessities as a living being; refueling, recharging, waxing. And yet he's not quite living. Though he tries not to think much of his current existence as he lives his second life in this world, the question does irregularly return to left him pondering. And keeps him up at night.

'Living spirit' sounds about the right term for it.

And it seems like he's not the only like this around here- this girl seems to share a lot in common than he'd initially thought. If she hadn't mentioned that she's not human, he could've been fooled by her appearance...]

I'd like to consider myself a living being. A living Cybertronian. [And hearing he's considered as such reassures him, even if he's accepted his death the moment it happened. Her offer to share a connection surprises him though, head tilting to the side. Quite the intimate offer for a first meeting, but he'll see where this is going.] Rain partner?

Archer. Summoned to the Fifth Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City, Japan, in the year 2004. Proficient with a variety of weapons, deadly with household implements, and currently co-managing a hotel.

[ ....maybe not what Nike is looking for but at least he answered?? ]

Alright then. The Iris moon. Purple in color and the third of the cycles to happen. Plenty of time to prepare for what comes, I think, but what do I know?

[He pauses to consider the best way to tell her what he knows, but after a couple of minutes to deliberation being straightforward would still be the best way. Also he just doesn't give much of a fuck.]

When the Iris moon cycle comes, those associated would usually suddenly feel like they're constantly in heat. Like they've been hit with a powerful aphrodisiac. Beyond that I don't know what else they experience. As for ways to manage that well - [He scoffed.] - I say manage but the truth is that you either accept it and dive head first or, do what I suspect those who refuse it do, and that's barricade themselves in for a whole week and hope for the best.

[Or do something else while inside. Again, what does he know?]

[Yuri nods, in answer to pretty much all of Nike’s questions.] I haven’t quite noticed a pattern, but some months are easier than most. I guess it’s— [She looks a little embarrassed, but they’re both girls sowhatever] I guess it’s sort of like you’re period, you know? Some months it might not be so bad, and sometimes any number of factors can leave you laying on the bed reaching for a heating pad or something...

My moon cycles have been pretty mild so far. Usually I just get a little hungrier than usual and get some animal features. But I have friends that turn fully into an animal associated with their moon, or things like that.

[She quickly shakes her head though, brow furrowed as she tries to be reassuring, her tone firm.] You don’t have to do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing. Hugging and holding hands with friends will work fine enough.

Ah, um... well, your moon might make it so you want to do more, because moonlacing just....feels really good. But you should know you never have to do more. I... moonlacing in general is...difficult for me, but... I’ve been doing fine with holding hands. And...kissing, a little, sometimes...

[It’s embarrassing to talk about, but she’ll endure the embarrassment if it means helping this girl out.]

[There will be another long pause after listening to the other women's advice concerning the idea of living a little. Nike did not expect her to return to the subject at hand again. She was speaking of her experience and philosophy.

A lot of the details were difficult to digest. Her philosophy was similar to the way Nike and the rest of her country were raised to believe except in a different context. The very thought of living like her was detestable.

While all at once, Nike admired her as well.

To be able to allow themselves to willingly offer themselves to help another, even if no love was shared between them, in a way Nike considered it to be another form of kindness. Maybe even affection. Nike did not want to assume, but she couldn’t help admiring her all the same. She wished she was more like her for the sake of helping others.

Would Livi have been happier if she pretended to love him? Allow him to do whatever he wanted to her?

Those are questions she was too scared to ponder about. Instead she will return her attention to the other women, digesting her advice, and trying to understand the reason behind her telling all of this. Her manner really did remind her of her grandmother’s tough love. Could it be that…?

A surprise look will be given.]

[It was clear this lady was giving her advice. The manner she speaks reminds her so much of her grandmother’s way of speaking along with Ursula’s…

Nike can’t see it as anything other than someone helping her. So with that said...]

I already succeeded in allowing it to do that. Which would explain the reason I feel so aimless. I don’t know how to help this world other than helping produce chroma. But the ways to go about it though… [She may be starting to turn red face at the thought of being intimate with anyone. Her entire life has been sheltered. With the exception of hearing things here and there, but she never has imagined...] To do it without love, I don’t think I can. Not even your way. [After all…] I couldn’t even pretend to love my own fiance. How will I ever be able to pretend with anyone else?

What is your secret? To live a little…?

[Link wasn't exactly sure how long to wait before he should expect her, but since they didn't set a time and he knows that many people aren't as rigorous about promptness as him he's patient. The pie is easy enough to keep warm, at least.

When she does finally arrive he opens the door, eyes widening a fraction at how much she brought. She was... Quite more zealous about the matter than he expected, but he's also fairly used to a certain Exorcist who shows equal zeal for food. He holds open the door while moving to take some bags and lighten her burden.]

Here, let me help with some of that.

[ Welp. Okay, this is definitely something that Nike needs explained but she already has some idea of how the other woman is going to react.

So probably a good thing that it's her doing it, all things considered. But at least she has something else she can start with first.]

Chroma is... well, basically energy that's generated by us with close physical contact. How much of it we generate is measured here and is that measurement is used as money. Certain types of contact generate a lot more Chroma than others though.

As for the Iris effects, well, there's a few of them, but one of the more... well known ones is that people with the Iris moonblessing... go into heat, basically. [ There really is no delicate way to put that, but at least Videl tried?]

Ah?

[ Well, well, well, doesn't that sound interesting? ]

I have abilities similar to yours. I can sense my surroundings and the emotions of others. I can even project my emotions... but for those that don't have any protection, it can cause some rather unfortunate side-effects. [ Like mutilation or death. :) ]

Still, it sounds like you're having quite a time... will you survive? [ His voice is light and filled with a joking tone. Like this isn't serious. ]

[ She can't recall the last time she was referred to as kind, so Yuzuriha is just slightly taken aback. Sure she was giving her advice and trying to make the best out of a situation that was clearly wrecking her brain but -- positive affirmation, even while hidden under lackluster words, being responded to with clear interest wasn't what she was expecting. It takes her a moment to respond, hoping that the red has left her face entirely. ]

Well think of it as doing it twice. You wouldn't wanna live a life like that again, right? [ There's an emphasis in her words. ] It'd be like repeating the same song and dance, it gets old after a while.

[ Now for the chroma business... ]

Well... I mean there's simpler methods if you're hesitant on it, hand holding and hugging usually does the trick. The amount of chroma you receive though won't be nearly as much as when you have sex though. [ She'll just... say it out loud for both of them. ]

Pretending to love someone is art! It's cruel and insensitive but sometimes that's the move ya gotta play to get where you're going -- Fortunately you don't necessarily have to love anyone in this place, people here are pretty lax cause we're all in it for a little chroma.

My secret? Hm... [ She pauses, the corners of her mouth curled into a wide grin. ] I just like to think that I'm living for two. Life's short and I gotta be selfish sometimes if I wanna be really happy, that's what my upbringing has taught me.

[ And it's not necessarily a lie. She is, in her own words, living for both herself and her late sister -- but that's not a story she's willing to open up about. She'd much rather come off as a selfish young woman who takes what she wants because she believes it's what she deserves. ]

[Ah, so his race did have a name. Or would it be considered a species??? This is a first for her to think of such matters. It was weird and made her a little uncomfortable. In the sense, she didn't want to consider them to be different from her. They were both living beings, nothing more or less.

She'll stop thinking about trivial matters like this.

Rather she was more keen on learning more about other worlds, now that she has the opportunity.]

[As for their next question, Nike was more than happy to explain it the best way she can.]

A rain partner is a relationship forged between the caster and the one they intend to show the rain to. Be it through a wish or a strong desire. It's one of few ways for the castor to connect with their new surroundings while bonding with their partner in the process. All of it is done to bring balance to the world while the caster is used as a middle man of sorts. Through the connection, we gain new abilities that tie us together. Telepathy is one of those ways.

[As long as he doesn't get diabetes!]

Holy Grail War? Were you summoned by the church?

[Cause if he was....she'll remind herself to punch the pope the minute she gets back home.

The details about a city and country name will catch her interest more than the actual year, but the one important information that gained her complete attention was:]

Deadly with household implements? Is that code for being a walking disaster as a housekeeper or for being amazing in the kitchen?

[This may be the most important question to date!]

[Species. But if Nike truly does treat him no differently than any other living beings, then she's already winning respects points from him. As a empath himself, Soundwave do believe that they aren't any difference between mechanicals or organics, forms aside, they are all just still living beings. Although it did take him millions of years to finally get that, but better late than never.]

Cybertron. It was-- [Destroyed. But that's depressing, so he won't actually bring it up.] - It's a shining, metallic planet home to us Cybertronian. A planet with towering cities not unlike this city and vast metallic plains.

[He speaks fondly of his homeworld. There's more he could say about it, like how it's the body of their god, Primus, and all associated legends but then it'd just end up being a history lesson about god robots.]

I see, it sounds somewhat similar to how I forged a psychic connection with someone. [Though hers sounds more magical than his own, speaking about bringing balance to the world and connecting with the surroundings whereas his only affects the individuals. Regardless, connecting to each other telepathically is quite the intimate, bonding process.] Hmm. And you want me to be your partner for this?

[In other words, he wasn't part of the Iris moon cycle was another detail she can conclude. And yet he was more than willing to spare a few moments for her. Nike was more than willing to accept without any complaints.

[The rest of the explanation will leave her chuckling a bit.]

It's either learn to live a little or hole myself away from everyone....? Yeah, I heard those options already. [Either doesn't sound very reasonable to her.] Do you want to know a little more about the Iris moon cycle to add to your records for those with heightening senses?

[Since it sounds like he was the logical type with a sense of responsibility -- a good person willing to help others with knowledge. Nike may as well give him something for his troubles.]

[Her description of the moon's cycles will leave Nike feeling pensive, feeling a tiny bit embarrassed, but impressed with her observation. It was beginning to feel to be the case. Which does leave her pondering on the next question.]

...speaking of that, do we still keep those cycles or are they sorta gone...?

[Considering she hasn't felt hers' appearing, Nike chalked it up over her being a living spirit. Spirits shouldn't have their cycles while all at once she was alive. It was a weird middle ground to be in, so. Should she expect it or...???

Moving on!

A sense of relief will be felt at the mere mention of not having to do more than just simple hand-holding or hugging. Nike was beginning to notice it must be skin-on-skin contact. She's still figuring out the limits to it all.]

I'll still be able to change into an animal...? [Because.] My friend. He recently gained really fluffy dog ears! [Which she found oddly attractive on him. Enough to have her wanting to touch him more...] What kind of animal features have you gotten?

[As for the rest, learning of this girl's comfort zone, Nike will sympathize with her considering she was the touchy type in a platonic way, not so much in the romantic aspects. Moonlacing will feel better in her cycle...? But it already felt good whenever she did it with Allen.]

Would you feel more comfortable holding another girl's hand...? [A pause.] Not during our cycles, but in general? Would you be okay with hand-holding or linking arms together?

[A wide smile will appear upon seeing his good-mannered nature to help her. Watching someone who looks and sounds like a noble help her was....definitely something she wasn't entirely accustomed to. Most of the nobles in her world only offered their services expecting something in return. Always.

A piece of her almost wanted to offer Link a grateful courtesy for his kindness. Almost was the keyword. She felt it'd be a joke to do so. Or may not be the most appropriate time. Instead, she'll decide to show him the best way she can.]

You didn't give much emphasis on what you wanted, so I decided to bring as much as I could! I promise to bring the rest of the things I found interesting next time!

[She was so excited at the thought of pie and tea! Sharing something so good with a friend will always have a way to perk her up.]

Aphrodisiac, a substance that increases sexual desire, pleasure, and or behavior. Usually made from plants and certain animals, but in the case of the Iris moon, magically induced.

The effects of the Iris moon will leave Nike insanely silent by....how straightforward the other woman can be without going red in the face. Nike's face will be changing. Her mind was trying to digest it. Understand it. WHY!?]

[Does she need to be concerned for the duration of the cycle or only during the evening?]

Mine's been...regular... [As far as this player knows WHOOPS did not think about that.]

For me it's been a fox. I think different animals are associated with different moons. I know wolves and dragons seem to be popular for sanguis, foxes and cats for cordis, and rabbits and deer for iris. I know there must be more outside of those, but those are the ones I've seen the most.

[She blinks, surprised, and then looks a bit embarrassed, nodding.] Mm. I...Like girls too. So I don't mind it. In some ways, it's a little easier with other girls too. I guess because I am one, so I generally know what to do already?

If you're more comfortable with it, I don't mind helping you with chroma and the like. Ah, but... I should warn you that... The reason moonlacing is so difficult for me isn't just because of my own, um... shyness. Sometimes my ability can... hurt people a little bit. It doesn't always happen, but it's still a risk people don't often want to take, so...

I suppose that's fair enough. Whatever we don't use you can always keep for yourself, after all.

[Hopefully she doesn't share the same endless appetite as Walker so she can get plenty of use out of all the food. But Link feels as though it would be poor manners to ask a lady about her eating habits.

Instead he takes some of the burden before closing the door behind her and then leading her to the kitchen. While one might expect the living space shared by three men to be fairly chaotic it actually isn't all that messy, something that is primarily seen to by Link. He also might or might not have been extra studious in cleaning when he learned that he would have company too, but especially in the kitchen he never slacks in terms of keeping things tidy.

Once he sets everything down on the counter he nods towards the oven.]

You didn't at all. I kept the pie warm in the oven in the meantime.

Yeah. It makes things a lot easier money wise if you're used to being in close contact with people.

[ And yup, there's the red face from Nike Videl had been expecting. Might change the other girl's thought on having people near her, though that wouldn't actually help with the heat itself.

... Nike did know what masturbation was, right? Did the Nike she met in Duplicity know that, or was what they had to do to get non-ghosted her first experience with the concept?

Either way, that's something she could worry about later. Right now, she should at least answer the question. ]

During the entire time. And also again during the entire time the triple moon happens. Though you might get lucky and not have to deal with going into heat. Or only have to deal with it with one of the times during the month. It'll be hard to say until it happens.
