Is that another thing that you 'buy'? For the fruit... I needed to buy it... but before, the nurses brought us the board and pieces.

I want to play with my little brother again. Like that time.

Which do you prefer when you play chess? The white pieces, or the black?

What was it you liked about the black ones? Any particular reason?

Nothing in particular. My brother liked the white ones. By the time I woke up... he had already chosen his pieces. It did not matter to me.

Navigating by landmark, I suppose, would be easiest.

I think so... I have no idea where most things are yet.

The two of us... we could not be awake at the same time. So when I was awake, he had already started the game.

I see. And because white moves first, he would take the white pieces, and leave you with the black ones.

What prevented you from being awake at the same time?

Yes, that is right.

Our body could not sustain us both at once. When one was awake... the other had to sleep.

instead of say a barter system, where you trade your skills or an item for another service or item
capitalism works on the idea of a monetary value
in the case of lunatia, that's based off of chroma, which everything runs off of, which is a more forgiving variation of the idea of capitalism

Oh, so that is how it is structured. Then I am somewhat familiar with it. I believe that was how things were in the time before the world was burned. Now, I suppose, those that remain scavenge.

It is... a strategic game where you have two 'sets' of pieces... white and black. They are like... kingdoms? You must use them to cross the board... and capture the king.
