It's my understanding that if a person here has ruled out the possibility of experiencing changes beneath either the Sanguis or Cordis moons, by process of elimination they can reasonably assume to be affected by Iris. It's also my understanding that these cycles seem to last around five days, which means that Iris is set to begin slightly less than a week from now.

With such limited time until that occurs, I'd like to solicit some advice about what to expect from Iris, and perhaps begin making arrangements to best cope with it when it occurs next week.

One preliminary tip I've gathered thus far is to expect to remain isolated and indoors for the duration. With that in mind, I intend to stockpile some food, clothing, and sources of entertainment that will help to last the duration. However, if there's more I should anticipate, I would certainly welcome the advance warning.

On a final note, not related to the above: if xX_Funkmaster69_Xx should happen to be reading this, I would like to offer an apology for pulling aggro on Venomfang the Tomb Behemoth and then immediately redirecting the full focus of his not inconsequential ire onto you.

Let me clarify — I would like to apologize, but regrettably I cannot, as that would necessitate being sorry to begin with. Kindly refrain from stealing my kills in the future.

Not to add anything to make things harder for you, but when I first came here I experienced no changes during the moon.

But if you are Iris, you don't have to stay locked up and isolated. I'm Iris and managed it pretty fine when the moon and triple moon rolls around, give or take a few things.

Would you prefer it over the others?

And I meant...when you're Iris you do feel a bit needier than usual in a lot of different and confusing ways. Plus there also comes having to freshen up a lot more than usual. But you can live a normal life as an Iris, you know!
Unless you want to use it as an excuse to be a shut-in for a few days.

I guess I don't blame you. Not many, if given a choice, would want to be turned into a weakling.

By neediness I mean that, well, you feel lonely a lot easier and want to be around others more. Sometimes it's just wanting to be around someone, other times it's just that you really want to get laid. And by freshen up...

I don't know as a female I feel like it's crude to elaborate to a complete stranger.

[if you. get her Drift.]

For awhile I turned into a vampire bat. Where I'm from they aren't prey animals, but they are still small and pretty weak for a predator. But I've also been a rabbit for my whole life, so I know what it's like to be small and weak. Most animals wouldn't choose that sort of life if they could help it.

You don't have to apologize. I was the one who brought it up! I just didn't want to make you uncomfortable right off the bat, or give too much information to someone I don't know in case they're some kind of pervert.

i was an iris for 6 months and then turned sanguis a couple of months ago

as far as iris goes, though, how badly it hits you can vary. sometimes you are really needy and it's impossible to do anything.

other times it's really mild and you can go about your business as normal.

and sometimes every day is different. you can even look different day to day.

how i experienced it then is different from how a friend of mine experiences it now. i used to get told to hope for the best but prepare for the worst, so just get some extra food, water bottles, sheets, changes of clothes.

and if you have someone you trust here, they can be nice to have around.

My advice: if you get the urge to make a big sweaty video post about how terrible everything is, don't. You'll regret it immensely when you can think straight again.

TRUST ME.

[ Would you say a moonblessing is a 'way of life', considering how it impacts and influences a person's decisions and choices? If so, nothing falling under that kind of category can be explained in a few words, including Moonblessings. ]

How much do you want to know?

[ There's a good deal of information to cover, from powers and abilities to manifestations both physiological and mental; and that's not even delving into how to manage it all.

Still, they could always start off with the one thing it seems the poster is aware of, and use it as a springboard to explain things further. ]

You've been told to limit contact with others when the Iris moon is out, but has anyone explained why?

I found comfort being with someone I trusted, or having their belongings. Alternatively, I would probably recommend to prefer yourself for nesting, so blankets and towels might be a good idea. But you may still react differently.

Ah. Having issues with someone kill stealing. I know the aggravation. People can feel so entitled.

I know it sounds ridiculous and it absolutely is. Which is where the regret it part comes from.

Might be just me though.

Otherwise you have the right idea.

You are, but I'm not 'polite company' whose delicate sensibilities take offense over a few words.

So, don't worry about saying whatever you want.

[ ....Who is this bashful maiden shying away from saying things directly? ]

Moonblessings impact everyone differently, and no two mooncycles are identical.

But if you're aware of that much, then you understand why it's better to be careful.

[ He's seen the moons make people do terrible, god-awful things they can't take back. And while Iris may not be a violent blessing, it's not without it's perils. ]

UNFORTUNATELY yes.

I ended up with traits analogous to certain varieties of jellyfish, oddly enough. Except with fangs for some reason. There isn't much logic to it.

It sounds mortifying, but I actually take a lot of comfort from it now. Though I suppose I am lucky in that respect that I have things to enjoy during Iris.

Ugh. I wish that kind of offense was something we could report, but the game's moderators are not very strict with that sort of thing.

Bingo. Translucence, too, so you really get that unhealthy glow to show through. If that's all it involved, it'd be less of an issue than it is.

But you get the idea.
