001. video; un: cendre

[The video opens on someone who...well, is rather clearly used to using devices such as these to address people. Cleanly centered and well-grounded, focused easily on the man sitting at the table in what looks like one of the nicer apartments available. Not as upscale as his tastes would like, but sufficient for the time being.

His accent is unmistakably French, and his words are easy when he speaks; another thing he seems practiced at.]

Fellow Moonblessed – hopefully this message finds you well, despite all the chaos currently occurring throughout Lunatia. I am Lysandre, a recent arrival from the Kalos region of the world I'm from; more to the point, I'm a scientist and inventor. I specialize in communications technology, mainly, but with regards to other disciplines... Let's say I learn quickly.

The level of technology here is slightly beyond my own world's, but I've been acquainting myself with it since my arrival; I'm interested in speaking to those who have been doing similarly.

I'm also a Pokémon trainer, though I understand that's a bit more uncommon in this place – Pokémon are our dearest companions, and as such something has struck me as odd about the creatures populating this place. Some of them seem intelligent, but the others...

[He gestures a little, vaguely, both to imply the all of that that he finds the others to be, as well as to serve as a placeholder while he figures out what he wants to say.]

They seem a little simple, and strange behind the eyes. Are all of them like that?

[...Lysandre.]

Either way... Thank you for your time, and remain well.

[Well, that's at least very definitive proof that this isn't the Lysandre that he had a run-in with.]

Good, good! I believe you may find it interesting.

Z-Power is something that, to my knowledge, currently exists only within the Alola region. It is an energy that can be harnessed within objects known as Z-Crystals, and installed into Z-Ring devices. When utilized in battle, both Trainer and Pokemon partake in attracting Z-Power, and that power is transferred into the Pokemon's move. A Z-Move, as these are called, is massively powerful! And the greater the bond between the Trainer and their Pokemon, the greater the intensity of the Z-Move.

As I researched Z-Power and Z-Moves, I drew many similarities between it and Mega Evolution. Z-Crystals and Mega Stones, Z-Rings and Key Stones...immensely powerful changes to a Pokemon during battle and the accomplishment of these feats through Trainer and Pokemon bonds... It truly is fascinating how these phenomenons occur so similarly but in completely different regions.

However! [Ah, he's still going.] One thing that I found particularly interesting about Z-Power, and what makes me rank it a bit above Mega Evolution, is that it has uses even outside of Pokemon battles. You see, it is hypothesized that Z-Power is otherworldly in nature. Alola is known for its legends of Ultra Wormholes- dimensional tears that connect our dimension to one known as Ultra Space. Z-Power is thought to be from this place, and thus can be utilized for the study of dimensions and dimensional travel.

Oh, of course!

[He decides not to fill Lysandre in on the whole Rainbow Rocket thing, even if it's not the same Lysandre. That would be such a confusing conversation. Instead...]

You are looking at one such individual! [After a short laugh,] Before arriving here in Lunatia, I had shifted the focus of my research to the very topic. I still have the ability to utilize my dimensional device here, but not on the scale that I was back home.

It is still very useful, all things considered! I am able to transport myself anywhere on Prismatica, saving myself quite a lot of travel. If my device was at its maximum potential, I would be able to traverse entirely different dimensions, such as being able to return myself home for the simplest example.

[Which is why the lack of function is a bit frustrating, obviously.]

However! I was able to make some modifications to it here to allow myself a pocket dimension in which to store belongings and supplies, so there are some wins and losses here.
