( when the feed starts, lenore comes to view sitting primly in a very plush looking couch, and she waves a bit with the hand she’s not holding her communicator with, smiling sweetly at the camera. it took her awhile, but she got the gist of how to use it easily enough. what a quaint little thing.

the place she’s in seems to be the lodgings that they'd been promised after helping with excavations, considering hers is currently occupied, but the curtains are drawn shut to keep the sun out, so it’s a little dim inside what with the only source of light being a lamp behind the camera despite it being the middle of the day. not that she’d die from it now with the medication she was provided, she’s just not really fond of it anyway. )

Before I begin, I suppose it’d be better if I introduce myself first.. technically a second time now, but for those who've missed it. ( she’s twirling a lock of her hair between her fingers, contemplative. she knows the possible risk she’s taking and concludes with: it could be interesting. ) My name is Lenore, and some of you might’ve already chanced on seeing me around before.

( the redhead leans back on her chair to get more comfortable, better than sitting so properly anyway. she even tilts her head a bit and finally she resigns to whatever it was she seemed to be mulling over, and returns her gaze to look at the camera. )

I’m here because I’ve found myself in a bit of a conundrum. You see, ( she parts her lips slightly, her tongue briefly painting over one of her fangs before continuing. ) I’m hungry.

( the camera shifts slightly because it seems she went to go reach for something. a blood pill. she shows that to the camera as well as she toys with it between her fingers. )

While these things are well and good, I’m afraid they’re not quite to my taste. ( and she hasn’t even tried the blood of a moonblessed yet, ) And I was hoping that we could come to an agreement of sorts.

( then she pauses for a moment, then laughs. right, silly her. she should explain better. )

I’m a vampire, and I figure it’d be best if I don’t shock people with that sort of information, I’d rather not have people assume I’m going to eat them, unless -- that’s the sort of thing you like. I’d hardly be one to judge.

( with a flick, the pill is launched without much care. as she said, she doesn’t really like it. why would she? it’s like being given a nutritional block for food and told to subsist off of it, which she wouldn’t do either. she eats the things humans do for enjoyment, after all. lenore is of the type to indulge the finer things in life, and this is one of the things she enjoys. )

I’m not asking to take a bite out of you either, nor am I going to bleed you dry. ( unless they’re into that, in which they can talk about that too! ) I just want to drink, as I haven’t fed properly in some time. We can work out the details of what you’ll get in return as compensation, naturally, and how we’d go about it. You’re free to state your expectations on either end. Whether it be chroma or a favor, or some other creative thing you want of me. I’ll see what I can do. You’ll find that I’m quite flexible to work with.

( there was a clinic or another that showed her how drawing blood and storage works, not that she’s against using her teeth. she just needs the volunteer or five or ten to get a nice supply going. )

[ tldr; lenore's hungry, doesn't like the blood pills the hospital gives and wants to try the blood of a moonblessed. she offers to compensate them one way or the other in the preferred currency or some such of whoever would let her bleed 'em. ]

Very, very good questions. Let’s pick at them one by one then shall we?

( she’s clearly scanning through the text again before nodding. )

If you’re worried about turning, I have no intents of turning others. Side effects would more be more like anemia, and I’d make sure you’re able to walk and such before letting you fly free. There’d be a puncture site, of course, and while I’m more practiced with my teeth, I have no qualms attempting other methods of collection. Needles and such were never my forte. Nothing a bit of moonlacing won’t fix, though.

( then, a quirk of a brow. )

I think I see what you mean. But a more apt comparison is more like if the essence of.. breadstick ( that’s kind of ridiculous to say actually. ) were to be put in a pill, as you saw. You don’t get to taste it so much as simply get what you would have nutritionally.

( then she furrows her brows a little. )

If you want me to compare what the blood they give me from the hospital is like, it’s like comparing plain porridge to ( clears throat. ) god damn grade A breadsticks.

This is quite the proposition to offer the people here... I would caution that there are... some here that may attempt to use that type of relationship.

I would offer my own but I'm afraid I don't know if it would be.. what you're looking for. [ But she's too damn curious not to respond, okay? She's met Alucard a couple of times, but they haven't gotten on the vampire subject at all. Trauma sharing and all of that, most times.

Plus.. she's got Amrita Cells and she's unsure if that might give Lenore perhaps too much.. ]

People in my world are made by machine and genetically modified, so it may not be as.. [ She hesitates here, searching for words ] .. Unique? As other people.

Mm? Use that sort of relationship? If it’s Chroma they’re after, surely they have better methods of acquiring it. ( unless, ) And if they enjoy themselves far from it for me to stop them.

Is that right? ( consider her interest piqued! ) I wouldn’t be all that sure about that.. especially if you’re the only one from your world here, but I suppose I wouldn’t know for sure unless I try it.

I did notice the fangs the first time we talked but given how those are common around here, I admit I didn't think much about them.

[ He doesn't seem that surprised to be talking to an actual vampire. He's seen stranger around the Galaxy and there are a lot of species out there that live off of blood. ]

I'm afraid I can't help you, though, not because I have anything against vampires but because I don't know what my blood could do to you.

Sorry if this is an uncouth question but you can only drink from people? What about feeding from some animal?

They are rather common, aren't they? I was people watching the other day and plenty of others seem to have traits from other such beasts. Which was interesting to see. Some seemed unused to them, though?

Thank you for reaching out regardless. And, it's possible, of course. But I'd feel a little better taking from someone I can ask permission from rather than bleed the poor creature. It does taste different though, in case you were wondering.

Ideally, that’d be nice. But I was also shown how to put some in storage so I don’t have to keep bothering people by the day to come over and whatnot. But considering the fact that I don’t quite have a permanent place of being at the moment, storage would be harder to come by.

I don't know that people who like to give blood would possibly think to lord it over you. But I suppose that's only if you allow that. [ But, there again, Lenore may not be as cautious about people as Re-L tends to be. No reason to if she's a vampire, she supposes. ]

I suppose there could be that, too. Though I can’t say people have lorded it over me before. ( probably because they don’t quite live long enough to, nor is she ever usually the one to collect it. she drinks out of a glass, usually. but she hardly thinks she could get away with that here. this isn’t the 1400s. ) Though I expect some form of hunter to be on my tail for it soon.

You know, it's something I never really thought about until I turned into a vampire bat, but...you'd think with how easy it is to get meat in a world like this, they'd also sell fresh blood too.

Odd thing to make taboo, don’t you think? People eat flesh, much as they try to distance themselves from that very concept. It’s hardly any different. Blood can at least be replenished. Most beings can’t just replace limbs lost to teeth.

( there’s a little bit of a pout, here. )

First of all, thank you for being forthright about this. I'm afraid I can't provide anything on my end, but I know a few ways we could bring an end to the search.

Have you tried any of the medical facilities here?

I have, it was something that we’ve done the little song and dance for around the time of my arrival. They even tried to fix my proclivity to the night time hours but, old habits die hard. The sun is at least not much of a concern anymore due to this.

It’s how I came to the ingenious little blood pills they have, which work in a fix or to tide me over, but one could hardly blame a lady for actually wanting something with a little more taste to it.

No no, that's perfectly understandable.

I'm aware that most of them also keep stores of blood on hand for other purposes - usually for transplanting into the bodies of those who've lost a lot of it through injury.

They’ve certainly offered before, and I won’t deny having tried it already. But it hardly sits well with me to take from an emergency storage of medically graded blood, especially when I know not of the situation of their supplies at hand.

Plus, if the primary contributors to the pool are only the locals.. Prismals, was it? I can’t very well just rely on their kindness and supply, especially if I’m not the only one here who feeds. There are likely others who’d like to be more discreet about it and thus rely on that supply more.

In coming to an agreement with another moonblessed, I can avoid all of that and maybe even better get to know my new neighbors. Contact with them is inevitable if they agree, so throwing in a bit of moonlacing into the mix is also a nice added bonus. Call it multitasking!

A few with some concerns if they were to agree, understandably. A few others who simply have questions about my being which is also fine. Then some where we’re working out the details. It’s a give-and-take, after all. I’d rather they be happy with the arrangement.

[[Dave wasn't expecting it back in video, but he'll take it. As much as he's not sure of his own sexuality, he's sure that this is a pretty lady and that's not a sight that's sore on his eyes. However, it's only polite and she's seemed to lock it and be honouring his need for secrecy and his curiosity. The quirking and furrowing of brows is something Dave is used to seeing and when the reply comes, it's in video.
