[The video feed opens up to the image of a man with a weird coat and an even weirder hairstyle. It'd be weird enough without the translucence provided by his Iris Moonblessing, honestly. He is located somewhere in one of Greatmoon Groves' parks from the looks of things in the background, and he seems very excited to speak with the network.]

Greetings! I've yet to make a post to the network, so I would like to introduce myself first and foremost. I am Colress, a scientist working for the Lunar Scientia and a fellow Moonblessed!

I am addressing the network today with an inquiry! But before I get to that, I would like to make just a few more introductions. This will be related to my inquiry.

[Colress then pans the camera to five creatures whom he introduces as Klinklang, Beheeyem, Magneton, Rotom and Porygon-Z. Klinklang and Rotom seem particularly interested in crowding around the communication band to get their time to shine, while Beheeyem and Magneton hang out as far off-screen as possible. Porygon-Z looks like it has no idea what's going on, honestly.

Colress manages to settle them all down before returning his attention to the feed.]

These are my Pokemon! I have been here for about two months, and have taken notice to the fact that everyone I've spoken to has had no idea what Pokemon are. Allow me to provide a brief description: Pokemon are creatures in my world with unique abilities and affinities to various elements. There are hundreds of species, and they have had a long-standing symbiotic relationship with humans. Pokemon are a cornerstone of my world's culture and my primary subject of study, so you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that I seem to be the only one with knowledge of them here!

However, I have met several individuals with similar companions. This brings me to my inquiry: Are there others present in Lunatia that arrived with pets or companions similar to Pokemon? I would love to compare and contrast our experiences, and learn more about the creatures of your worlds!

[As Colress goes on, the upside-down head of Porygon-Z can be seen peering in from the top left corner of the feed.]

Of course, I am also happy to elaborate on the subject of Pokemon as well, if anyone found interest in my description.

Ah, I believe he is looking for an incentive. Is there anything you can offer him in return?

There are many of these Rotom then? I apologize for all the questions, this is simply a very interesting concept. Our Ghosts all have a wide variety of personalities as well, so I believe I can understand the concept of individual temperament, but does that mean that there could potentially be a security issue if a Rotom, or Rotoms(?), decided to possess a city’s systems on whim?

[Is that even possible? It’s somewhat of a concerning thought, even if he isn’t at all a part of the universe they’re native to. But-]

Ah, yes. I owe her my life many times over, she is a treasured ally and friend. You mentioned that humanity has a symbiotic relationship with Pokemon, it is a similar situation with Guardians and their Ghosts. Different, but similarities within the differences.

You know, I’m not surprised to hear that at all. It’s kind of disappointing to hear that my world’s not the only one with that kind of problem, but people will use any excuse to grab whatever power they can get.

[says the pot of all the kettles...]

I really have no idea if Amon is taking all his followers for a ride or if he actually believes his own message. It doesn’t change the fact that he’s a lunatic that needs to be put down, though. I’ve been trying to keep the pressure up. They’re fairly good at guerrilla tactics and it recently turned out that one of the city’s wealthiest industrialists is a member, so it’s a matter of getting the ability to apply that pressure, as well as cutting off access to new recruits.

[Uh... "Put down" seems a bit harsh? Colress purses his lips at that wording, but chooses not to say anything for the time being.

He mulls over everything Tarrlok has explained thus far...]

And what has the Avatar made of all of this? Was she able to see your side of things?

It's quite the tale, but the short of it is, I was a visitor in world apart from this one not so long ago. There were many others like me, also from other worlds, including one that has Pokemon. There were two young people- 'trainers', they called themselves, and their companion creatures.

An incentive, huh...

[Kay is inwardly relived Beheeyem has stopped staring so long. It was starting to get a little freaky. She taps her cheek.]

Does he like treats?

Well, like I said, she’s... unpredictable. I thought we had a reasonably good thing going, but she struck out on her own, nearly got her bending taken, and then spent a few months being distracted by sports until the arena was attacked by Equalists, at which point she decided to strike out on her own rather than cooperating. She got some results, I suppose, but it’d really be better if we coordinated our efforts, given that her little excursions got in the way of official police business at some points.

While Rotom are known to cause a bit of chaos, they are not inherently malicious. I don't believe there has been an incident of a mass of Rotom bringing their chaos to a large population. Typically they wander alone, and take up residence in abandoned areas as opposed to large cities. I suppose in those cases, you could think of their mischief as a way to scare off intruders. I would say that its actual threat level is moderate at most.

As for you and your Ghost's relationship...now that you say it like that, I imagine so!

If I may be forward, I would very much like to meet you and your Ghost in person sometime! It would be nice to see her face-to-face, as it were. I could bring my Pokémon, if you by chance share that sentiment.

[With that answer, the pieces of the mental puzzle fall into place for Colress. He's quick to rein himself in after his rather hyperbolic reaction.]

Ah, my apologies! I understand the situation now, is all. You see, I've heard of such a phenomena occurring with someone else. It is very fascinating, and I imagine it must be quite the shock for you to have had something like this happen more than once!

[Beheeyem curiously tilts his head at the mention of treats. A good sign!]

Oh, certainly. That is exactly what I tend to give him in return for his assistance with tasks outside of battle. I believe he would be pleased to try a new offering. Am I correct with that assumption, Beheeyem?

[Some more beeping from Beheeyem, but he nods as well, so that's a much better indicator of how he feels on the matter.]

"Unpredictable" is right, though... This seems borderline reckless too, if she's still inexperienced as Tarrlok implied.]

Indeed, this seems like the sort of situation that coordination would benefit. The results could be been bigger, for instance. Do you have an idea of why she broke off from her partnership with you?

Ah, that makes much more sense. I appreciate the explanation, you are very kind to indulge my curiosities. I would be glad to meet you and your Pokemon whenever you have a chance, I think it would be very interesting and I’m sure my Ghost would love the chance to show off, she so rarely gets to do so nowadays. Do you have a particular time and place in mind? My schedule is generally free, save for the times scheduled off for training.

Y-yes, exactly! That's how it was explained to me, at least. Now if she would ever die, I can bring her back again the same way, too. Well... at least at home.

[ He's not as sure about this place, actually. It's not something he wants to try. ]

Information for information... [ Pause. ] They're so unusual. Those gear-ones are animals?

It was quite the surprise- I never expected to be whisked away to yet another strange world. This one, at least, doesn't have the looming threat of an all-powerful, world-destroying entity.

[Beat.]

We, er, destroyed the all-powerful, world-destroying entity so it definitely will not appear here anytime soon.

Can I give him cookies? I'll make them, fresh from the oven!

[She doesn't even know what Beheeyem would eat, but Colress would certainly steer her in the right direction.]

Think nothing of it! I am more than happy to indulge! Truly, it pleases me very much to get to talk about Pokémon with those who are unfamiliar, as they bring new perspectives that I might not have considered.

How excellent! I am glad that you agree. Are you familiar with Greatmoon Groves' largest park? That is where I am presently. With its ample space, it is a very nice spot to have my Pokémon out. I am free almost every evening.

I presume that would make her current body a construct of sorts for her to inhabit? That is very useful! At home, of course.

[He got the implication well and clear. He doesn't blame Connie for not wanting to test that out.

As for the question, he nods and points the camera at the rotating pile of gears. It whirs happily...or as happily as a pile of gears can. It at least looks pretty enthusiastic.]

Indeed! While Klinklang is certainly unusual even for a Pokemon, it functions just as a more organic Pokemon like a Furret- to compare to your ferret! It eats, sleeps, and is capable of reproducing under the proper circumstances.

[She said that so casually...!]

Goodness. Well, that is good to hear, at least! It sounds like you had quite the journey before this...

Oh, you're right! I don't think I've thought of it that way before!

[ It was really weird to think about, but also... a little comforting? Maybe?

His white eyes widen a bit when he sees the metal 'pokeymoon' thing again, and the man explain more about it. A metal creature that ate, slept and could reproduce? Connie doesn't even wanna think about what goes into what to make that happen! ]

...and the other metal one is the same?

[ He gestures slightly to Magneton and then smiles a little. ]

I will admit that I have not been to the park, but I am aware of its existence, so I can certainly find my way there. I have a few scheduled plans for this evening, however I am completely free tomorrow. Would meeting up be acceptable then? It may also be good to designate a particular spot as well.

I think it’s just stubbornness and bad influences, honestly, with a touch of wanting the credit for herself. I mean, I do understand that she probably feels like she has something to prove given that she’s only managed to master three of the four elements so far and the previous Avatar accomplished a great deal more at a younger age, but this really isn’t the best way to go about it.

[Also Tarrlok’s fucking shady but he like, isn’t gonna say that.....]

Admittedly, the concept is rather new to me as well. Rotom inhabits machines like the washing machine that it is currently within, but it has a semi-physical body apart from such vessels. I learned of an actual body construct after spending time here on Prismatica!

On the topic of Magneton, he returns the smile, pleased by Connie's excitement over it.]

Correct! The circumstances of their origins are still quite the mystery, but it is clear that Magneton have existed for a very long time. They even predate humanity's use of inanimate magnets...to our current knowledge, at least!

That is more than acceptable! There is a large decorative fountain within the park, which would be a great landmark to find each other at. How does that sound?

[And without that vital piece of the puzzle...]

Indeed. While Republic City is certainly facing a threat, the circumstances sound very different from the previous Avatar's as well. Comparing herself to them at this time could seems inappropriate... Everyone grows at their own pace- even those with skill. But I imagine that she feels like she has the weight of the people on her shoulders, which can't help.

[He could certainly see the expectations placed upon her and the need to immediately meet those expectations as a bad influence.]

I don't know what a washing machine is, but I think I get what you mean. Like a spirit possessing something rather than someone? That's really complicated.

Connie also isn't quite sure what a magnet is, but he's still impressed. ]
