It is more helpful than you might think! When Rotom possesses a washing machine, it becomes part Water-type. It is able to expel powerful streams of water out of its hose, and then combine that with an Electric-type move for very effective damage. Different appliances give it different typings. For instance, a microwave oven makes it Fire-type, or a refrigerator makes it Ice-type. It could even enter my communication band, though I don't typically allow that.
