At least in those cases, there's less to wonder about. But I get the feeling what you're talking about isn't situations where your choice doesn't make a difference at all, just one where all routes would have the same outcome.

But then, some people say it's about the journey, not the destination. I can definitely see how it would bug someone, not knowing what other things they might have experienced if they'd taken a different path.
Of course, even if you had taken that other road, then you'd still be left wondering what you might have missed out on.
You might have framed the question differently, but you’re essentially asking after someone’s regrets. Very rarely do people wonder “what if” beyond the scope of that.
