I believe no one should trust anyone, however I recognize by the nature of being social animals, humans will inevitably end up trusting someone, which is why I present to concept of understanding where other people's lines a lie.

You can't simply act without regard for those around you and expect them to do nothing.

This does not mean you don't act, it means knowing when and where lines have been crossed and anticipating those reactions.

What I will say is you cannot guarantee the person who emptied the throne will be the one that claims it. Not everyone desires that kind of responsibility, and even if they desire the responsibility, they still need to be recognized by the people to be considered as having power. There will always be room for the people to decide they don't want or need a monarchy.
