I think it's possible for a leader, or even a group of leaders, to do something they think is good for the people but turns out to be a mistake or a misguided action in the end.
But no one is perfect and even leaders are failable. The problem becomes when the leaders are called out for their actions and refuse to listen and continue to insist they were the right all along.
I don't think anyone's life should be taken for a mistake, but there is a fine line between competent leadership and tyrany.
