[Did anyone think Akechi might never show his face online again after that last post? Well, apparently that's not the case, and he's looking quite serious.]

By now, I'm sure a lot of people have heard about the upturn in missing persons cases involving children and teenagers. I know a lot of us try to help the Moon Knights out where we can, so I thought I'd put out a public call for information.

If you've found out anything that might help in solving this case, please, bring it here. This post can serve as a starting point for anyone trying to investigate, instead of making all of us individually interview people for information. I'm sure it'll make things easier on both sides if we don't have a dozen people independently looking for the same leads, after all.

And, don't worry about your contribution going unrewarded. I know the value of information, so if you tell me your name, I'll personally make sure the Moon Knights know if you provided any leads.

Can you share what is known already? It's only fair when asking for input from others to share first.

Nothing conclusive so far...the only things clearly connecting the victims are that they're all minors, and a majority of them were last seen on Level 1. Reports have been filed for both boys and girls, with no noted preference for Moonheld status. I've heard some rumors that some of them have been seen around a new store called Lunatian Girl, but nobody I asked could confirm for me whether that was before or after they went missing.

I'd like to investigate the store myself, of course, but it seems dangerous to do so alone when I'm in the target demographic.

If your worried about going alone, I would love to come along. Even if they were seen there before they went missing and it's unrelated, it should lead to further leads at the very least.

That was my thought, too. If it's a coincidence, the owner might still be able to give some insight into where else the victims might have gone.

I'd like to investigate without announcing it first, though. There's a cafe on the first floor, so I was thinking once I got some backup, I could look for anything suspicious under the guise of sampling the menu.

But of course. It’s better to observe and patron than to waltz in asking questions. Personally I find it better to confront suspects when you are very sure who the culprit is. When done right it can answer everything.

How much backup were you considering?

Exactly. If you question a suspect without evidence, they'll be on their guard and less likely to let any incriminating information slip. But if they don't know they're under suspicion, then they won't take any extra caution to hide evidence.

I'd like to take at least one person with me on every trip, ideally someone with either keen observational abilities or some form of self defense skills. Two would be preferred, but much more than that would look suspicious for an ordinary cafe visit, especially if the composition of the group changes.

A group of three could work, but not with ever changing members. A pair would work better and be less distinctive. Of course if you split people up as if no one knew each other that could work, but that’s probably asking for trouble. It’s easier to work with a single other person if plans need to be suddenly changed too. Though it’s a lot easier to just place pieces and not have to worry about telling them anything beyond what they need to know.

I have no self defense skills and I wouldn’t call my observational skills amazing or anything, but I have investigated things before and I am very lucky, so things should work out in my favor.

Investigation skills are definitely a plus. I'm a trained detective, myself, so what I need is mostly just someone to keep me in line of sight to deter any would-be kidnappers. If someone does try to attack one of us, I'm trained in subduel techniques and confident in my abilities as long as I'm not ambushed.

Ideally, a pair of investigators would be in there at all times, but...we'd need a rather large group to rotate frequently enough to keep anyone from visiting with suspicious frequency. It should be fine if the groups occasionally change up, though, as long as it's believable as a result of conflicting schedules.

A detective! How fun. I have an underclassman that is a detective. I’ve thought before it would be fun to be one if I had the talent for it.

I wouldn’t worry too much about a group, or attackers. I think things can be settled rather quickly if the place is worth looking into or not. Though, research would need to be done a bit ahead of time in order to be properly prepared.

I don't need any thanks or recognition [ although infamy does follow Naofumi around, and her by proxy ] but I'll do everything in my power to help save the missing children. I'll report back here with any information I'm able to discover.

Oh? That's unusual. I only knew of one other person who became a detective at around my age.

But if it is worth looking into, we'll need to learn specifics before a rescue operation is feasible. After all, even if the owner is the culprit, we can't be sure just yet that all the victims are there. And direct questioning is, of course, out of the question until we're sure enough that he can't get away with playing innocent.

An aerial view would be the most help right now. I want the Lunatian Girl store watched as subtly as possible for signs of the missing children. Especially around closing time, I want to know if the owner has a separate home or if he lives in the same building.

Thank you. The store Lunatian Girl is of particular suspicion, but...be careful. I don't want volunteer investigators to join the list of victims because they let their guard down.

That could come in handy if we find information indicating our current suspect really is involved. Right now it's just a hypothesis, but if we get enough evidence to support an accusation, we'll want to make sure his response is truthful.

I do have a magic item on hand that can reveal lies, but it's difficult to administer without the questionee either consenting or being willing to accept a drink.

I suppose. First a preliminary is needed before further action can be made anyway. A foundation, even a small one, makes everything easier.
