ok. so.
i got most of this already? i think, at least.
there's chroma, and demi-chroma, and you get frisky to get... chroma? yeah. demi-chroma you have to mine.
so i'll try not to ask about any of that stuff

but i guess my big question is
is this anyone else's second big trip offworld?
like. has anyone else here gone through this whole "kidnap and wake up somewhere else" thing
because even if this place is way better than duplicity i would really kind of... rather not? keep popping around in different places.
is this a condition? do i have teleportitis or something fake like that basically.

also, if anyone here knows... uh. jeez. jupiter, neptune, saturn, ren, reverie... actually if anyone here recognizes "venus?" that's probably easier. let me know if you remember me i guess

also also, do piercings heal up when you come here or is that just a devil thing. just curious. it's a hypothetical question i guess.

also also also, does any place around here do piercings cheap? i'm kind of broke. like not hypothetically broke.

Well, you weren't wrong. Yaomomo wasn't back in Duplicity with us. Fortunately.
I mean, even before we said anything about how we feel, we were pretty close...

I probably wouldn't have left her side if she'd gotten stuck back there, too.

[Sounding contemplative... but! She shakes her head a bit.]

Jupiter was kind of like that?? Except for how she always just sort of gave up at the last second. But everyone knew she was kind of a genius, you know? [ a beat. ] ...are you sure she'd like me?

[She's being embarrassing anyway!! ... As evidenced by the way Jiro ends up flushing, bringing her hand up to rub her hair a bit. She doesn't look too upset by it, at least?

But she nods.]

Yeah, I am. I wouldn't say so if I wasn't, y'know?
She'd probably think you're cute. ... And you'd think she's cute, too.

'Cause she is, you know. Totally adorable.

[Does Momo have any flaws? Hard to say!! She doesn't when Jiro's talking her up, anyway.]

[ but even as she deflects and recenters on jiro, she's absolutely preening at the other girl's assessment. momoyao would think she's cute!! she's never met momoyao but she can basically GUARANTEE she's cute, because jiro obviously has good taste?? ]

Oh my god. And she's here, too, right? [ wait. wait, hold up. with a sudden and abrupt flare of caution, venus asks sotto voce: ] Oh, um, is she- you know. A Hero?

[It's possible Venus may or may not think too highly of Jiro and her taste, but then again, Momo is pretty great --

She leans in with a grin, though, and almost just as quietly:]

She's an even better Hero than I am.
Maybe the best out of the whole class, even.

[ that probably doesn't get the response jiro was expecting? there's a bit of awe there, to be sure, but also... a degree of disappointment? no, that's not it. nerves, maybe? ]

So, just to check... [ how do you put this. hm. ] When you say she's the best Hero, is she- a Good Person? Not, you know, a good person, but a Good Person? [ this is going nowhere. she scratches her hair with one hand, and crosses her arms, and asks nervously: ] Is the part where I'm the devil going to be an issue?

I think part of being an actual good person is accepting someone no matter what or who they are. A Hero should be happy to save anyone, no matter what. But I know that's not a totally popular opinion.
Personally, I think it's cool...

[But that's also her opinion, not Momo's. She doesn't need much time to think on that, though.]

I'm sure it won't be an issue, though. Yaomomo might be kinda surprised at the start, but you're nice and you're easy to talk to; you two'll get along fine.
Though you'll probably get something goofy like, "I see why you guys are friends" or something.

Haha. You really are a good person, huh. [ and then, because that's a loaded question- ] Not a good person. Like, just an actual, nice human being.

[ it's probably the fondest thing she's said in a while. maybe if heroes were more like jiro, she wouldn't have to ask these kinds of questions. although, speaking of questions- ]

Venus just really does give off the kinda air that Jiro vibes with - a true blue loveable idiot.]

And anyway, don't tell any of my classmates I said this, but... sometimes I think that kinda thought process comes with the mutant-type Quirk territory, you know?
'Cause it's hard not to just treat everyone the same when you're always the one who's different from everyone else.

Quirk... That's your whole superpower thing, right? Like, the kind of magic you have? [ at least this is something she's talked about before. thanks kirishima!! you're making this part a lot easier on jiro!! ] And mutant-type means... Oh! Is that what they call it when, you know, your body changes? Like...

[ she reaches up to tug at one of her own earlobes. halfway through the gesture, it finally hits her that she's calling jiro a mutant (even if it's the correct term) and also doing something that's just kind of rude in general.

Not magic, no. It's biological. Part of my DNA and everything.

[Said complete with her jacks lifting up to match. At least she doesn't sound offended or anything?]

People who have mutant-type Quirks end up with new parts, most of the time. Sometimes you don't always see it, but they're there.
Most of my friends here aren't mutant-types like me, though.

... But y'know, if your wings and stuff were a Quirk, you would be.

Oh, yeah. I know that? I just meant... You know. It's sort of like magic, for some people.

[ she watches jiro's ears from a dozen different angles. it's not like she hasn't seen this sort of thing before, you know? but it's always kind of fascinating. and speaking of- ]

Oh. [ it's not a bad oh. actually, it sounds kind of... flattered, almost? ] I guess that makes sense? I'm pretty sure Jupiter and Neptune would have been too, then. Unless being the ocean doesn't count as a new part...?

One of her jacks lifts a bit, moving a bit like a snake. Hovering like that in front of Venus's wing.

Mostly just to watch if her eyes track them because they're cool and weird and neat.]

As long as it's something a base human wouldn't have, and you can't turn it on and off... that'd be a mutant-type Quirk.
Like with Earphone Jack; I can reel them in, but I can't get rid of them.

Not that I'd want to, obviously.

That's... sort of close?? [ it's totally not. it's absolutely, not even remotely close. but it probably still counts? ] Then yeah, it's probably mutants across the board. Cool.

[ for someone who's never been cool a day in her life, she at least does a pretty good job of acknowledging when something else is. turns out mutant-types rule. who knew?

the eyes on her wing absolutely follow jiro's jack; each one moves individually, slowly tracking it as it gets closer, and the closest ones even squint a bit preemptively just in case they need to close. it feels less like a single set of eyes and more like several things working together; a hive of eyes, all sending information to the same place. ]

Can you feel things with those? [ yeah, even if the eyes on her face aren't looking, her wings are definitely getting a good view. ] Like, what does it feel like if you tap something...?

What does it feel like?

Uh... Lemme think. It's not really easy to compare to, y'know, there's not much that feels exactly like it...

[And while she thinks? Her jack goes ahead and pokes...

Venus's shoulder. Because she's nice and would never poke someone's eye with them unless they were annoying.
That's what nice is, right?]

... You know the way teeth feel? How they kind of have nerves, but it's more just the gums around them that do the feeling?
It's kinda like that. The pins don't feel a whole lot, but the stuff around'em is kinda sensitive.

[Yes, she's absolutely comparing them to teeth.]

[ she's not sure what she expected. just... you know. not that. ]

Huh. [ she tilts her head back in thought. after a moment, she helpfully adds: ] Earphone teeth sounds kind of gross? Sorry. It's just... like teeth, right?
