[Adra's in his little apartment kitchen when he broadcasts this, wearing an apron and presiding over several bowls of various ingredients--blueberries, strawberries, cream, sugar, eggs, flour, etc. His elf ears have shifted to the Cordis cat's--a slightly darker shade of blond than his hair and very fluffy. His long, cream-colored tail swishes about as he talks. His voice is as deep and booming as ever, but there's a brighter tone to it--strangely upbeat.]
Bal'a dash. I hope the evening finds you all well and warm. I just have a few quick words.
[He starts slicing a strawberry as he goes on.]
Many of you arrived here already gifted in the ways of magic. But I've met several others who have never had such powers before. I've seen confusion and anxiety due to this, and I want you all to know that I'd be glad to help, if I can.
[He twirls his flour-dusted finger, and a ribbon of sparkling Light dances around his hand.]
Though I've devoted myself to the priesthood in recent years, I was once a mage of some skill--had apprentices, even. If you need instruction or advice in the ways of magic, please don't hesitate to call on me.
[The Light fades as he bows his head slightly, his furry ears twitching.]
My name is Adrasteius, and I'm at your disposal.

I don't think of it as a change. I just think of it as a shift in focus. I was also a priest before I studied magecraft, anyway.

[ He honestly has no idea how it works, he barely knows how his magic works. ]
`...and, um, what are you making?
no subject
The Light is not a god. Though it calls to those who believe in it, and though it has a benevolent will, it has no definable shape. The Light is holy energy, divine creation. Harmony and peace made manifest.
[A brief pause, because he's clearly getting into it. He was a street preacher for a long time, after all.
He exhales.]
And I'm making fruit tarts.
no subject
[ He sounds eager to learn, but catches himself. ]
Sorry, it's just fascinating. I hope I'm not being offensive...
[ He's not sure where the line was when talking about religion, as his family had worshipped money above all, and his foster dad was quiet about his own beliefs. The closest he got was the paladin in their group, but they had sworn their oath to their ancestors and not a deity.
Connie's own faith was a bit of a mess, but that's a longer conversation. ]
What kind fruit?

[Honestly, Adra jumps at any chance to talk about the Light. It's not quite on the level of proselytizing--he's not really interested in converts. But, despite everything he learned during his recent battles with the Burning Legion, he still believes in the Light's essential ability to heal, to comfort, and to bring people together.]
There is some supposition that the Light has a will, a benevolent plan. I believe this to be so, myself. It's a divine force that calls to people, that guides its believers. But it demands no tithes, asks for no sacrifice. It is simply a manifestation of the fabric that binds all living things. An engine of purification and grace.
[And ... he pauses, glancing down at his cutting board.]
--and the fruit is mainly strawberries. Blueberries. Some kiwi slices. Not too many of those, though. Don't want to go overboard on the kiwi.
[Two important discussions here.]

It sounds like a very lovely thing. Comforting. [ Pause. ] Do you feel the Light here too? I know I can use some of my magic here, but I wasn't sure if anything divine does. It's so far removed from our own worlds... unless it's one of those things you carry within you.
Are you having a party?
no subject
Of course. The Light suffuses all worlds.
[This might not be objectively true, but it's Adra's sincere belief. The Light responds to those who fervently devote themselves to it, and he's been devoted for much of his life.
He shakes his head.]
I just like to bake.

[ Something constant and soothing. Faith seems so nice. ]
What kinds of things did you like making back home?
no subject
[He grins. Winks, even.]
And they can't live on tarts alone. Tell me a favorite of yours, and I probably know it--or something very like it.
no subject
At the question, he makes a thoughtful hum. ]
Well... there's this dish my friend Cale did - that's the man looking after me back home - and it was chicken stuffed with herbs and lemon. I haven't been able to figure out all the herbs, though.
no subject
That does sound delicious. I know of a recipe like it, though it's true that the herb part might be significantly different. I like tarragon and thyme, for a start ...

[ Now he's invested in this. ]
no subject
[Him, too.]

[ He almost asks 'why', but stops himself. ]
That... that would be really lovely.

[He saw that question forming on Connie's tongue, but since it wasn't asked, Adra's not going to discomfit him by pressing the matter. Though, as with many things, he has a ready answer--because he wants to, and because he likes to take care of other people.]
