[Adra's in his little apartment kitchen when he broadcasts this, wearing an apron and presiding over several bowls of various ingredients--blueberries, strawberries, cream, sugar, eggs, flour, etc. His elf ears have shifted to the Cordis cat's--a slightly darker shade of blond than his hair and very fluffy. His long, cream-colored tail swishes about as he talks. His voice is as deep and booming as ever, but there's a brighter tone to it--strangely upbeat.]
Bal'a dash. I hope the evening finds you all well and warm. I just have a few quick words.
[He starts slicing a strawberry as he goes on.]
Many of you arrived here already gifted in the ways of magic. But I've met several others who have never had such powers before. I've seen confusion and anxiety due to this, and I want you all to know that I'd be glad to help, if I can.
[He twirls his flour-dusted finger, and a ribbon of sparkling Light dances around his hand.]
Though I've devoted myself to the priesthood in recent years, I was once a mage of some skill--had apprentices, even. If you need instruction or advice in the ways of magic, please don't hesitate to call on me.
[The Light fades as he bows his head slightly, his furry ears twitching.]
My name is Adrasteius, and I'm at your disposal.

Nevertheless, Adra sighs as Robin comes in, because the door is indeed not locked.]
You're in for a bit of a wait.
[He's applying glaze over the otherwise finished tarts, using a little pastry brush and quick, albeit delicate strokes.]
I'm just finishing up.
[He can't help but add--even as he's focused on the task, not looking up--]
So try to be patient this time.
no subject
Robin at least has the courtesy to shut the door behind him? he then looks around the apartment, taking in his surroundings and how a Priest decorates his living space.
more importantly is that SMELL coming from where he's finishing up. he'll be good and stay back, though with his hands raised in a placating gesture.]
Easy. I'm on my best behavior, 'kay? [his version of best behavior.] I'm definitely surprised you told me where to find you, though. No hard feelings, huh?
no subject
[Maybe not strictly true. But he's always found it difficult to hold onto individual grudges for very long.
He continues to make practiced, careful strokes with the pastry brush as he talks, like someone who's done this so many times it's become a muscle memory.]
Besides, you're starving, right? Because of the blessing.
no subject
like now.
his tail twitches behind him.]
You realizing that certainly saves me from explaining anything. [translation: yes, he's starving. Moonlacing would be more efficient but he's not so willing... to do that... despite his history.]
It's a pain in the ass, it is. Sometimes literally.
[TAIL. BIG FLUFF TAIL.]
no subject
Adra's gaze strays to the tail, because how could it not, and he smiles wryly.]
I can see that.
[He gestures to one of the round, squashy armchairs in front of his little hearth. Perfectly designed to accommodate all types of animal anatomy.]
There should be enough room for you to, uh, curl up. Sit down and I'll bring you a plate.
no subject
[... how convenient! yeah, Robin is going to head on over to that armchair and take a seat. curl up, psh no. he's not even tempted! really. it is a relief not to have his tail all bunched up behind him. forearms on the rests, he sinks down into it and enjoys how comfy it is.
and the catering to.]
All bad jokes aside, you're a pretty gracious host.
no subject
I like to take care of people.
[He sets the plate down on the coffee table, then folds his arms over his chest.]
Even if their manners are sometimes wanting.
no subject
his palms lay flat on his thighs and he bows his head.]
Thank you very much for the food.
[ALRIGHT NOW HE'S GRABBING ONE and taking a big bite. he waits until he's swallowed before talking.]
Ooh, these are good. You're better than that other Priest.
no subject
What other priest?
[He hasn't met a single priest of any other faith here. Much to his great sadness.]
no subject
Hm? Ah, my bad, I was talking to myself. You're the only Priest I know here but if you want repayment for this, I guess I could do some poking around...
[in his mouth, the sandwich goes.]
no subject
Religion does seem thin on the ground here ...
[He wonders what Robin might've been talking about, regardless, but he already has the impression that this one isn't much of a talker.]
Anyway, I don't need payment. You were hungry and I fed you. That's the end of it.
no subject
Asuna would be proud, beech.Robin, on the other hand, is just nom nom'ing away as they get on the dangerous topic of religion.
he's a talker when it's not about him.]
Aren't you charitable...
[he shouldn't keep eating but he is.]
I can't really leave here knowing I owe you, though. It doesn't sit right with me. [with a tart in hand, he leans back in the chair and looks pensive.] If you want some kinda sparring partner for your new apprentices, I suppose you can call on me.
no subject
I don't intend to teach fighting techniques. My offer was to help others learn control and discipline--how to be at peace with their new power and make it feel comfortably part of who they are.
[He shakes his head.]
I try to avoid battle whenever possible.
[He picks up a sandwich for himself, though he eats slowly and delicately. Birdlike.]
Also, you don't owe me.
no subject
that... explains... a lot.]
Hey, you don't get to decide whether I think I owe you or not. Fact is, you've fed me the food from your table. Back in the day, people would kill for--
[for a piece of bread but those words die on his tongue.]
There has to be something. It's been twice now, Sir Priest.
no subject
But Robin stops himself, so although Adra's giving him a serious look--eyebrows furrowed, jaw set--he just says:]
Well, when I'm around, they don't have to.
[Pause.]
As for you ... if you really feel like there's a debt here, then you can just be my assistant for a while.
no subject
most of the time.]
Your assistant? [he does talk once he's swallowed, sucking a bit of sweet stuff off his thumb.]
With what, exactly?
no subject
I'm an old man, and cooking is a lot of work. Gathering ingredients, prepping them, putting them together, cleaning up afterwards ...
[He shrugs.]
I could use some help, is all. Especially when it comes to getting the ingredients. So, I'd give you a few lists and some money and you'd go get everything for me. I'd feed you what I make, of course.
no subject
or he ages really well. whatever the case, he doesn't look like an old man like Robin doesn't look like a 500+ year old Spirit.]
You want me to be your errand boy, you mean. [his tone takes on something flatter BUT in his MOON CYCLE MIND the concept of being fed is rather nice. what's a trip to a grocery store anyway? AND he doesn't have to use his own money.
it's not a bad deal, all things considered. sounds like community service, actually. the tip of his tail flicks back and forth.
then, he shrugs with an idle smile.]
Alright, sure. Why not? [sounds like a better version of being Servant and Master, in his opinion.]
Shall we shake on it, Sir Priest?
no subject
You're making it sound like I want you to do something trivial. Nothing about putting together a good meal is trivial.
[Nevertheless, he offers his hand. His palm, if taken, is (as always) unusually warm.]
I'm grateful.
no subject
Well... you have a point about a good meal not being trivial.
[and he takes his hand, not saying anything about how warm it is but
not letting go immediately either at the small influx of Chroma he gets from the gesture.]
I wouldn't say that yet. I haven't done anything.
