[When the video starts, Claudine is holding one of those little cubes that are everywhere. Her skin looks a little flushed.]

Hello, Lunatia, my name is Claudine. I suspect that I am definitely not the only one who has received one of these -

[She holds the cube closer to the camera.]

- annoyances. So, how do I make it stop? I feel like I’ve tried everything, from looking for an off switch to hitting it with my sword.

[Said sword is in the background; it’s a very nice saber.]

I think I’m going to lose my mind if I hear that song one more time.

You live in Tokyo too, then? It seems that every time I get the song out of my head, I wind up hearing it again.

Yokohama, actually. You can pretty much hear it a lot in the mall.

That thing is absolutely the worst.

To break it, though, you need to moonlace. That somehow sends some sort of signal to break whatever is holding it together.

I was afraid it might come to that, especially when the sword didn’t work on the ridiculous thing.

Ah, that's the thing with technology like this, I guess. The only other real way is to put some serious distance. Like probably a mile or more, I forget how much.

Which would only make it someone else’s problem. No, that wouldn’t be right.

[She pauses for a moment.]

...you don’t happen to know just how far things have to go before the signal gets to it, do you?

Konoka thinks for a moment, then taps something on her device, then comes back.

Oh! You don't have to be that far to get rid of the heat effect, but the music doesn't stop unless it collects enough "moonlacing atmosphere" or whatever that means. It doesn't drain you but you still have to moonlace to make it stop.

[Claudine nods. By now, she thinks she gets the shape of it, even if she’s blushing pretty furiously.]

I’m going to assume that “enough atmosphere” means something along the lines of going all the way? At least I am assuming that based on the heat effect and the earworm combined...

Don't think you need to go that far, unless you want to...?

Maybe it'll work faster, but I've just been holding hands with everyone I met to drive those things away.

I see. At least there’s that. Thank you, Konoka. One more question: does it tend to have stronger effects the longer it plays?

From what I've seen, yes. Longer you don't do anything about it, the more you roast.

[She pauses for a moment.]

I suppose this is the obvious follow up question, but are you free this afternoon?

[ I have some time before work, I can shake off the heat for you, sure. ]

Mind the ears though.

[ Konoka backs her camera away just a bit, revealing that she's got very tall bat ears. ]

It's Iris week.

Oh no, I don't mind if you touch them. It's more of a warning, I guess, since because I'm Iris I get pretty touchy-feely this week, and that gets worse if you touch a spot like my ears.
