Well, okay, his purpose for being here is not a dumb one. It is food related, though, which seems to fall second only to pet posts and questions of a sexual nature.

But food is generally a universally enjoyed thing.

Hey everyone. So uh. My birthday is comin' up!

[He tries to smile, but it comes out rather hollow looking and fades after a second. He rests his chin on his hand with a sigh.]

I know I haven't been the most uh-- ... I mean. I don't know many people here still, so if anyone is like "who cares, it's some random punk's birthday" I totally get that. But uh, I figure I can at least offer somethin'?

Is it weird to do that even though it's my birthday? Eh...

I-it's... my birthday, I mean, it's two days after Christmas. That's the big winter holiday where I'm from. I was talkin' to someone else a while ago about how there's no KFC here, and that's where people in my country usually get their Christmas dinner from. It's a whole weird tradition...

[That's besides the point, though.]

Anywaaaaay, I can't make fried chicken exactly like KFC but I've tried a coupl'a times in the past week and gotten it super close, so I wanna try makin' a whole bunch for anyone who really misses it, or really wants to try it. I figure we could meet up at the community center for a... a potluck thing? If... anyone is even interested...

[Potlucks also seem to be somewhat popular here. He might be piggybacking off of too many of them, and he's all awkward and anxiety about doing this at all. He hasn't looked directly at the camera much during this, fiddling with his ear, his shirt, his hair.]

Or maybe just show up, eat all the chicken and bounce. I can't even really be mad if that happens...

[This is getting sad. He's just going to turn the feed off.]

What, no, you should! It's your birthday! Doesn't matter if there's more. There's a ton of people here so there's bound to be more than one party, but don't worry about it!

Of course I'm sure! [ That's a fair point, not that Yosuke knows this. Still, he's dead set now on getting this guy to actually want to throw this party thing. ] Look, the only toes you'd be stepping on is if you like... rented a party room on the same day as someone else or whatever.

But like, wanting to celebrate your birthday and give people some kinda Christmas dinner while you're at it is really neat! If anyone gives you crap for it, then they're the asshole, not you!

Oh, uh, I didn't get his name but he was on the network a bit ago talkin' about "crunchy fried bird" around the holidays.

[Which Rin knew immediately meant KFC.

Oh okay, that makes sense. Someone did mention a bit ago that there were a lot of Japanese folk compared to others here. So I guess it was bound to happen.

[ He actually didn't get the KFC dinner in Inaba. No KFC, really. ]

[How many actually did do the KFC thing? Is that specific-Japan thing?]

There's that uh... the community center. Figured that's way bigger than my apartment.

Oh yeah, that place! That should be good, yeah. Maybe check to be sure you don't need to like... make a reservation or something, though? When I worked at Junes, we had a play area for like... kid's birthday parties and stuff. But you had to reserve it and all that.

I was plannin' on headin' over tomorrow to check it out, actually.

Well, then there ya go! Just let people know if the location's gotta change. In the meantime, what kinda food you want people to bring? Or does anything count?

[ He's never really been invited to a party outside of his friends before. This was actually pretty exciting! ]

[Rin has helped with parties before, but he's never been the one hosting the entire thing before.

I think anythin' counts really? I'm doin' the chicken, obviously, but I don't think we gotta stick to just whatever KFC would normally have.

Honestly, it's been awhile for me. After I moved to Inaba, the whole KFC thing became a non-tradition since there isn't one out there. But, oh, oh! I think I have an idea, hold on!

[ And the video goes silent for a few minutes as Yosuke sets the phone down on the counter and ran off to another part of the apartment. ]

[ There's sounds of murmuring, he's talking to someone in the main room. But then he's rushing back and jumps right back onto the bed and taking the phone at the same time. ]

Ah-ha! Score! Partner and I are gonna bring curry, then. He makes one of the best curries around, dude.

[ Ren's curry is the only other one he can think of as "the best". But he has no idea if Ren has plans or not and Souji was right there since he's staying with him now. ]

This is gonna be great, Rin. [ You get a really bright smile. ] Now, onto the next important question! Anything in particular you want for your birthday?

Oh! Curry is awesome!

[That's exciting, getting to try someone else's curry. He loves cooking for others but he actually missed getting to have food made by others.
