Well, that was definitely an interesting way to start off our stay...
[ It's been a couple of days and everyone's hopefully had some time to process and recover, so now is probably as good a time as any to pose this question, get people's minds off of what all just happened. It's being shot from an apartment living room with a view of the city from a window in the background. ]
My name is Serah Farron, and I have a question for the other... moon blessed here. [ She says a bit unsure, no air-quotes, but they're implied. ]
If it's not too personal to ask, I'm curious what kind of backgrounds and worlds other people come from. Was it very different from this one, or is it sort of the same?
I used to be a time traveler, and I enjoy learning about history, besides. I'd appreciate any answers, thanks!
[ With a welcoming smile the feed ends. Serah will be matching whatever format people choose to respond with. ]

(Tarrloooook!)
I'm sure you will. Our world had the... "help" of the Fal'cie for a long time, or I don't know that it would have advanced as quickly as it did. They've simply always been around. I think it says a lot if your world has gotten so far entirely on their own.
[ Not to sound patronizing. The Fal'cie are a bit of a touchy subject to people on her world now a days, for all the crap it's turned out that they pulled... ]
Do you have magic on your world, too?
(It is he!)

[ But, let's backtrack a bit. ]
They had the ability to turn people into what we called l'cie. It was like... becoming a Fal'cie's pawn. You'd be branded, and given a task, a Focus. If you failed to complete it you'd eventually turn into a monster... If you managed to defy it or see it through you'd be turned into crystal, but still conscious, in a way. Like an eternal dream.
[ It's all a bit heavy for a first time conversation, but there's no point in lying about it, either. ]
So... yes. Your world is better without them.
They were overthrown a couple of years in my past, and since then humanity has had to learn how to get by on their own. So in a way we've had to start over, with a little bit of leftover technology to help out. Too much depended on them.
2/2 (Forgot to add the 1/2 last tag, sorry!)
Sorry, it's a pretty complicated subject. But I'd love to hear more about bending, if you're up to talking about it?

Honestly, that makes me really glad that the spirits in my world generally decide to stick to themselves and rarely interfere with our business. That... certainly sounds absolutely awful and I'm glad for you all that they're gone.
[BECAUSE WOW WHAT ELSE DO YOU SAY TO THAT]
But anyway, bending is essentially... well, we control the elements with our bodies in a way similar to how non-benders use martial arts. I'm a waterbender, so that's what I'm most familiar with, so I can use water for combat as well as some practical applications like freezing things, melting ice, drying things... that sort of thing. Some waterbenders can also use it for healing, but you'd need to be specially trained for that and I always focused on the other aspects.

Thank you. And... really? We have nothing like that on our world. The most anyone can do with the elements are certain types of spells. It's more like a short burst. It doesn't sound like what you're describing, though? When you say you can use it for combat and practical uses, and you control it with your body...? Ah, I don't mean to be rude, but would you mind showing me what you mean?
[ She isn't trying to ask him to perform on the spot, honestly, but she can't quite picture what he means. ]

And hm. I can see if I can show it to you, if you like? Just let me get a glass of water and I'll show off a little bit of what I can do.
