Oh, I'm not shy about going stag to parties. But I don't mind filling in if we end up with an odd number, either.

I guess you could just say that, if that's the case. Think about it as...just hanging out with someone at a fancy place? What do you imagine as something fun happening in that kind of setting?

A lot of dancing but only with your designated caste and no stepping out of line. [So NO FUN ALLOWED.]
