Try to be hopeful, I guess. If he remembers this place, and your conversation, maybe he's trying his best to come back to you right now. If he doesn't, then..he might just be happy being home again with no memory of ever having left? I dunno for sure but from the way they talk about it here and the place I came from, it's impossible to know for sure what really happens unless it happens to you, and it hasn't happened to me personally.
