[ There’s nothing but dead air for a few moments before Persephone finally speaks up, sounding a little nervous. ]

Um… I didn’t expect the red moon to be, um, so much. I sort of lost control and burned a little too much Chroma.

[ A pause. ]

So, um, what I’m asking is if there’s anyone that would like to cuddle? I’ll make it worthwhile! I can bake something or cook you a meal, just as long as it’s vegetarian.

Tch.

[He only clicks his tongue and doesn't answer. But...he's a little caught off guard by that admission. He stops and stares for a moment.]

...I'm sure you will find others soon. [After all, she's friendly and out-going. He's sure she will make many friends before long.]

Maybe... But I've never really had a lot of friends. Just the nymphs but they didn't really much of a choice but to accompany everywhere. [ Could she really call them her friends when her mother told them to go with her everywhere? ]

[...how strange. He's often been sympathetic but it's not often that he hears something that reminds him of himself. He certainly hadn't been accompanied by nymphs but growing up he had been on his own with only the man who raised and taught him around him.

He remembers all of a sudden, her comments about her mother grooming her to be the goddess of spring and he hoped with all his heart that the lack of friends in their childhood are where the similarities end.]

...I'm certain you will find many friends in this place. There are many kind people here.

[ Her mother kept a close eye on her and never allowed her to be alone. The only non-nymph friend she was ever able to make was Hermes, and that was only because he made regular stops to deliver letters and packages. And her mother certainly didn't know about the depth of their friendship, she only allowed them to speak to one another while supervised. Her mother would not have approved of their sneaking around to hang out and go for swims. ]

I hope so.

[His was more of a case of it being decided that he didn't need friend or companions because he was meant to be a sacrifice...not that he ever realized it. All he knows is that one day things were normal, then he disagreed with the man who raised him and suddenly he was disowned and told to cut out his spirit core from his chest.

He places his hand on her head with a huff.]

Didn't I already tell you it will be fine? I'm not in the habit of lying to comfort anyone over the age of five.

[Which is to say, you'll be fine! For sure! But even though the words sound like a lecture, the hand he places on her head is gentle.]

[ Turns out the nymphs would give her some privacy from time to time, though it was rare.

She closes her eyes and lets out a soft chuckle. The hand on her head is a nice comfort. ]

You're right.

[ She shifts so she can plant a quick kiss on his cheek. ]

[He huffs, because of course he's right! But the kiss on his cheek takes him by surprise.

His eyes go wide and, even though there's no other outward signs of it, on the inside his mind goes from blank to a lot of internal freaking out because why...did she just kiss him???

He's frozen for a moment before the blush from earlier returns with a vengeance and he turns his head away.]

I only spoke the truth what is there to thank me for?

Because you're very sweet and here, helping me, even though you don't have to be.

[ She smiles, shifting so she can get a better look at his face. That blush is back and she can't help the chuckle that bubbles up. ]

[wooden_one]

...I didn't have anywhere else to be.

[Also he looked over when he felt her shifting, curious as to what she was doing...and then when he meets her smile the blush gets worse. Then he scowls.]

Stop smiling at me.

[ragingnature]

Why? [ Genuinely curious. ]

I'm happy.

[wooden_one]

[...why? His expression is complicated for a moment before he turns away again, his posture straight and tight.]

I'm not the sort of person people smile at.

[ragingnature]

But why? [ She looks a little concerned by that. Is he like Hades in that people believe that he's some kind of monster even though he clearly isn't. ]

[wooden_one]

[...people keep asking him that here. Isn't it obvious?]

I'm cold and aloof. Bad tempered and unpersonable. People don't... [like me.

Somehow, this was easier to say before he came here, then this part had been the norm everywhere he went. Now...it was almost embarrassing to admit to this last part.] I'm the sort of person who is feared and respected, but mostly there's more fear than respect.

[ragingnature]

[ A lips press together in a thin line as a concerned look takes over her features. All that makes him sound a lot like how people believe Hades to be. But in her experiences with both him and Hades has been the opposite. ]

You don't seem that way to me. [ A pause. ] Well, perhaps a tiny bit. [ She smiles and holds her fingers just the tiniest bit apart. ]

Honestly, you remind me of someone from home.

[wooden_one]

[He's surprised to hear that. There's the slightest widening of his eyes to show it before he schools his expression back into a scowl.]

It's more than a tiny bit.

[He's pretty sure he's awful, okay? But also...he is actually curious though he doesn't really know how to ask about it. So after a brief pause he asks,] Oh?

[ragingnature]

If you say so.

[ She doesn't see it and can't help but grin at him. But the question causes her grin to fade into a fond smile. A bit of a blush overtakes her features, though it can be difficult to see given her already pink skin. ]

The King of the Underworld, Hades. I've noticed he has this reputation of being feared and respected, though more fear like you. A lot of people think he's cold and scary but he's not, he's really sweet. And no one that has seven dogs could be a bad person.

[wooden_one]

Another god?

[There were the ghost kings where he's from...but he doubt any of them could truly bne considered king of the entire netherworld. But he's intrigued because...]

He has seven dogs?

[He's mentally dismissed the whole, he's like you because he's really sweet sentiment.

Also, he's a dog person.]

Yeah. There are a few of us and like my mother he's one of the Six Traitors Dynasty.

[ She realizes that's probably going to take some explainig but she'll let him ask if he's curious about it. ]

Yup! Cordon Bleu, Mushroom, Russell, J.P, Fudge, Big John, and Cerberus. They're all such sweet dogs, except maybe Cordon, he's a bit moody.

[He's definitely curious! Because he's always been the studious sort and he likes learning.]

What is the Six Traitor Dynasty?

[Those are...some interesting names. Not that he knows what a 'cordon bleu' or a 'Big John' or even what a 'Fudge' is. So it's les that the meanings are interesting so much as they all sounded foreign.] Dogs are generally sweet...when taught properly.

[And if someone had so many dogs and they were all sweet then he probably knows what he's doing.]

They're the children of the Titans. The six that overthrew them and started the current pantheon. [ That's the short of it anyway.

She nods, agreeing with him about the dogs. ]

His dogs are well behaved. [ Well, mostly well behaved. Cerberus seems to be smitten with her and has literally left his post to track her down. And Cordon Bleu is a tiny yappy devil. ]

Even gods can be overthrown... [How fascinating! And it makes sense, when he thinks about it.]

I've never found the time to keep a pet. [Let along so many! And then, a little awkwardly,] Have you...ever had any pets?

[ragingnature]

Yeah. [ Espeically when enough gods band together again one to do it. ]

I used to feed the birds and other animals around but, no, I've never had a pet.

[wooden_one]

Why did they rebel?

[He's raised three disciples but that's...hardly the same thing.]

Can I assume that wild animals would not be frightened of you?

[Goddess of Spring seems like it'd come with that in the package.]

It's kind of complicated but I guess it boiled down to Cronus being afraid he would lose his throwe to his children so he tried to keep them imprisoned. As you can imagine, his fears came true due to his actions.

[ In the end, it was just history repeating itself as Cronus had done the same to his on father. ]

You assume correctly. Animals tend to really like me, even if they're a little skittish at first they usually come around.

A self-fulfilling prophecy...and one well-deserved, it sounds like.

[He can't say he has any sympathy for the father in this case.

He nodded along with her explanation. It was as expected.]
