video;

[A man with long, flowing silver-blue hair stands with a hand over his heart, his other hand reaching out to an equally ethereal young lady. They look perfectly matched in natural color scheme, and their outfits--blood red shot with gold and silver--make them look like they’re from another world. They stand in dual spotlights, only a few feet apart.]

Her hair was as pale as the fallen snow, her lips as delicate as rose petals, and she was to be Queen in only a few short years…

[The said Queen-to-be fits the description perfectly. She doesn't even look like she's wearing make-up or a wig-- the physical feature being described were completely natural. Despite the overzealous recitation of his lines, the girl doesn't look at all bothered. She listens, waits, and stays still until it is her turn.]

But the wicked will always be wicked, and my throne and life were stolen away by jealousy and hatred my pure heart could not fathom…

[They take a step closer to each other.]

When we meet, will she remember me? I’ve been gone so long… We were mere children when we played together.

Will I have the courage to fight for my future, or will I live forever alone, wondering what could have been?

Snow White, with a heart as crystalline as the morning sun.

And the man who would be her Prince, who she was destined to find again…

[The stage they’re standing on darkens, and a voiceover announces the title of the play: The Miraculous Tale of Snow White.

Really, it’s just Wataru throwing his voice, but you totally bought it, didn’t you?

A few moments later, the two stars appear closer to the camera, all smiles and waving politely.]

Please join us each weekend next month for a theatrical production to rival any star’s! I am, as always, your devoted Wataru Hibiki. And our star, as bright as can be--

[He gestures to Weiss to introduce herself.]

Weiss Schnee. [A pause, because she has to think of a description for herself that's as flashy as Wataru's. He can't very well upstage her!] We'll be serenading our way into your hearts soon, regardless of how icy or thorny it may be.

Tickets on sale now! And all those who attend our opening night will be invited to a celebratory soiree.

Seats are limited and selling quickly, so don’t delay. We'll see you there.

[The stars take a bow; and they’ll be around to field questions and inquiries!]

Niisan?

[ She knows what "-san" means now, but what's the "nii" for... This is confusing! ]

[Oh, yes. He sometimes forgets that many people here aren't familiar with Japanese honorifics.]

"Niisan" is a way to refer to someone as something of an older brother fiGURE, whether or not they're related by BLOOD. Wataru-niisan is a year ahead of my and he's taught me many invaluable things in the time we've known each OTHER.

So he's like a mentor to you?

[ That's interesting! Weiss is honestly pretty curious about Japanese culture. She's learned a little about kotatsus now!! ]

What do you call your older sister, then? I want to call mine by something.

[personal profile] spellspeak 2020-02-01 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
That's RIGHT. I used to call him something more suiting to the idea of a mentor actually, but he complained so much about not being called "niisan" like everyone ELSE.

[Yes, he's going to call Wataru out a little. But it's not the entire truth of things anyway.]

An older sister is "neesan".

What did you call him before?

[ Wataru complaining? That's... kind of cute to imagine, even though Weiss isn't fond of whiners. Please tell her all about this. ]

I called him "Shishou".

[Even though Wataru claimed that the title was inaccurate.]

That sounds so different from "niisan".

[ But that means "mentor"! She learned something new again! :) ]

Well the meaning is quite different so that's naturAL. Words are very powerful things so even the way they sound is signifiCANT.
