How can you make yourself fall out of love with someone?

Or better yet: how do you stop someone from falling in love with you?

[But he's definitely just asking for a friend and not for himself at all. He definitely didn't get a canon update or anything, nope.]

i guess it depends on why you want to fall out of love with someone? but mostly i think it just takes time.

and you can't. other people's feelings are their own. whether you return those feelings or not, you only get to decide how to respond to them. the rest is up to them.

[...

how old are you, sir?]

is that the only reason? i'm sorry i was expecting something more like 'they like someone else' or 'we're not good for each other' or even 'our families are feuding so one of us is going to end up taking poison to fake their death right before everything goes wrong and then everyone is dead'.

what did you expect? some kind of secret way to change how someone feels?

[Oh. Is that his reason? In that case...]

bullshit.

did you even ask them or did you just decide that yourself?

yeah, well. sorry to tell you this, but you don't get to decide that for them. it's their feelings, their life and their future. the only person who gets to decide if it's better for them or not is them. not you.

you only get to decide if it's better for YOU. and then you get to discuss it and figure out how to move forward from there.
