Through curiosity both morbid and not - what were you in the middle of before bring brought here, and how urgent do you consider returning to it?

Just going by the way things have been around here lately, I won't precisely be surprised if answers trend towards "having a crisis", "dying horribly", or "watching someone else die horribly"; even so, it isn't as though I'm going to judge for such things either way.

So what are the zombies in your world like?

I actually wasn't doing anything in particular, I was doing what I could to keep a low profile. Technically speaking, I think I was still a wanted man.

But some folks went and stopped the apocalypse, so I guess that fits in with your second comment, doesn't it?

Hopefully world-ending cataclysms aren't terribly common for you.

Death is the great equalizer, is it not? At least such is true among mortal men but even the royal line of Lucis found a way to transcend beyond death. Although, such truth is blasphemous within itself due to our pact with the Gods.

Only those beholden to a greater power can overcome Death's cold embrace and even so, his bony grasp clings to them always.

The methods I've heard of haven't necessarily involved the gods, so to speak. But it's generally accepted that if one carries on beyond death, it's not so much that they're no longer mortal men as it is that they cease to be anything that can be considered man altogether.

That depends on a number of things. What they're infected with, who they were before the infection. Genetic makeup is a factor as well, in some cases.

Something like that. I'm a virologist; I've worked for multiple pharmaceutical corporations.

It's my job to know these things.

Perhaps there's some truth that statement. Death is the natural order of all life. To transcend it does mean one would have to give up their morality and in lieu, their humanity.

Although, if I may ask, where do you lie on all this? You seem quite intrigued by the subject.

In all fairness, they just sort of incidentally stopped the apocalypse. Their leader just really wanted to kill the guy who started it.

But no, I can't say it's all that common, but I'm not all that old. It's probably happened before.

I would think it to be the way of most people to want to overcome death, if given the opportunity...? It isn't a terribly uncommon thought, at any rate - death may be the natural conclusion of things, but that doesn't mean I have to care for it any. I like my life, and I like my work. Death taking both from me so easily is distasteful to me.

As for my current status where I came from, I'm not in any imminent danger of death, nor was I doing anything particularly fascinating at that specific time. Overseeing a project.

I was in that line of work before the outbreak. Needless to say, it's taken a bit of a turn.

I'm not, however. Considering doing something in the scientific field, but it's a touch difficult to know where to even start here.

...I'm starting to think that's just a common theme. Some people set out to save the world intentionally; others stumble into doing something along those lines because they would rather like someone over there to be dead and the rest is just a happy accident.
