Hello, Lunatia! I hope this finds you all well. I'm Dr. Angela Ziegler, if we've yet to have the pleasure. The doctor who owns the Second Nature (Free) Clinic on the beach in level 2.

I have seen a lot of new faces of late and quite the number of questioning entries, as well as some other Q&As, so I thought that I would offer one a little more... medically professional? And from someone who has been here for a year, now.

I'm sure it is quite disorienting here at times and I would like to offer some peace of mind and an open venue to ask anything you'd like, whether it's about this place or its changes, pre-existing medical concerns, how to administer a massage for a partner, what goes into cybernetics, creating a swedish torch as the weather warms up for hiking, or even simply just coffee shop recommendations. Everyone is welcome to try me.

What would happen if I injected a mix of wasabi sauce and nitroglycerin in someone?

That depends on two things; first, how well you recall your syringe training and how thin the wasabi sauce is to avoid air bubbles introduced into the bloodstream, and second, where you're administering it.

Did you know that nitroglycerin can be used as a vasodilator for anginal attacks and even for rectal use to aid in healing? But swallowing it or injecting it anywhere else in the body renders it null.

Why the wasabi sauce?

We have to stop focusing on the stabbing, there are different angles for different applications! You have to be gentle. Especially for running an intravenous line with a catheter. They dislodge easily before they're taped down.

You were the one who asked what would happen with nitroglycerin in the body! The answer is "it will break down if ingested". It really only works orally or rectally. But there are better solutions; I promise I won't ask you to touch anyone's rear end.

Also, the concept of spice is a chemical reaction to the receptors in your mouth and irritating only to delicate tissues, injecting it won't do much besides being unsanitary and problem-causing. If you wish to prank someone, it's best to just... stick to oral use.

All surgical steel scalpels are reusable if sanitized properly; as for extreme durability, I suppose that would depend on what it's needed for.

But I don't sell medical equipment. There are places here that do, associated with the hospitals and Prismal clinics.

Should I be concerned?

The point is, if you recall, there is intramuscular applied at a 90 degree angle, subcutaneous (beneath the skin) at 45 degrees, intravenous at 25 degrees, and intradermal/surface at 10-15 degrees, depending on age of the patient. And you can't risk tearing a high-pressure vein you're trying to run a line in. You don't just stab things into veins or you'll go right through them.

( That's what you get for talking about stabbing people with syringes and wasabi!!! (The nitroglycerin part is not a concern, clearly.) )

And I told you that it was really all right; far worse things could have happened and I'm only glad neither of us were hurt.

I suppose they would be...? But you could cause serious damage doing that.

Shouto has not, no. In medical school we practice on each other instead of poking innocent bystanders. It takes quite a bit of practice first before moving onto living tissue. And it isn't like either of you are going to be phlebotomists!

You can both practice at the same time; I'll get something set up to practice on.

I can understand that; I was lucky enough to have my tried & true surgical kit come over with me. What is it you'll be turning a scalpel to? Assuming it isn't fellow humans, if you're requiring something extremely durable.

I can send you to the location of two I like to use, though they're a little fussy with contracts. I'm not sure they'll just let people waltz in and purchase single items without having a business behind them.

I've been told my answer should be "it's the way of the future" whenever anyone asks about cybernetics; truthfully, however, technology finally caught up to more functional prosthetics.

But the short answer is yes. Sometimes, though it seems to be quite rarely, people have only been affected by the emotional aspects. The increased aggression, or the self-indulgence, and so on. They haven't all shown physical traits, but those physical traits also fluctuate and we're not quite sure why. Sometimes it's a minor change and sometimes a major one, sometimes fully-bestial, sometimes a different animal equivalent entirely.

And sometimes, like myself and quite a few others, the moon's influence we're under simply changes without warning. I was Iris for about eight months here, before Sanguis' influence took over. That has been the last five or so months.

Hello yourself, "Mr. Magician".

A Swedish torch is a self-sustaining campfire technique with an upright log. It's perfect for damp ground and places without much kindling, if you happen to come across any felled trees or bring one with you in preparation. And they're easy to cook on.

As for coffee shops, there is one on Level 1 without a name; the awning is cream-colored on a the business block to the left of the Level Transport system. It has a wonderful view of the fountain in the main square.

Then there is "The Right Blend" by the academy; the staffing can be a bit short-tempered, but they're just no-nonsense. Both places are quite excellent.

( Pssh Harry, don't hold back on her account. The oldbies gotta stick together! Nevermind she probably doesn't look a day over 25; she has a decade on that and change. )

As for the Swedish torch, you just split it in quarters or sixths without chopping all the way through. You can rough up the inside edges with the hatchet to catch the falling embers and slow its burn. But it aerates itself and doesn't require any feeding. It's a bit easier to imagine with a photo.

You can make it with a bundle of sticks in the same shape, as well. As for my favorite cafe, I am partial to "The Right Blend"— one of the servers there is a friend of mine, so it's nice to stop in and see him. I'm always happy to have good conversation if you'd ever like company. It's not too far from my clinic, so I stop in often. Especially if you happen to like therapy dogs in training.

( She'd understand completely, don't worry. Her long-term partner in this place disappeared the other month; the only difference being she knows she can't pull away from the act of moonlacing. It's survival, plain and simple. Angela is just good-natured and enjoys teasing, keeping her spirits up with playful tenacity. )
