I was wondering...if anyone would like to play a game! After everything that's happened I thought maybe something fun would be good to take people's minds off of things.

It's called word association and you basically start off saying a word and then the other person has to think of another word they associate with it! It's really fun, and I think everyone could learn a bit more about each other playing it. Feel free to play with each other too. I. I just want everyone to enjoy themselves. So I'll start with the word: white! Now you have to think of a word that you associate with it.

But! That's not what I...really wanted to talk about. I. I also wanted to ask if anyone would be interested in learning sign language. I know we can all understand each other inherently here, which is amazing, isn't it? People can understand speech and writing but I'm not sure I've met many people who know sign language off the bat. I...think that learning a new language might be fun for some people, right?

[ Maaaybe?! He's so bad at this. Maybe this wasn't a good idea?! He doesn't even know. He's awkward so please don't rag on him too bad!! He's so not good with addressing entire networks of people and offering to teach people stuff. ]

Anyway. If you have any questions, or would even like to offer up your own language to teach or learn...please don't hesitate to speak with me! It could be like an exchange of sorts! And we could have weekly meetings, it might be fun! [ Or not. ] Thank you for taking the time to read this, I really appreciate it!! And please have fun playing this game with one another!

[ Shigeru?! He forgot to mention to keep it PG-13, whoops. Please don't be too naughty. Think of the children!!

Ooc: assume this is after the Port Sylvel disaster! ]

( LMFAO HONEY...!!! )

I'm sure it would, yes; you could play a game just like this to help people learn, too. Some of it is straightforward. It'd be like charades, don't you think?

( PLEASE??? He was her angel. If Angela ever ended up with kids she'd hope they were as well-behaved and sweet as he had been. He'd been an absolute dream. And far be it from Angela to acknowledge it had happened at all; let them put it in the past and move forward. )

I thought the same; everyone likes to have a bit of fun after all. And you've received some good interest!

Warmth. ♥

I've always appreciated the thought of a mostly-universal language that didn't rely in dialects or extensive grammar rules. So many versions overlap in my world. I was even able to understand what you signed to me and I'm sure what you know and what I know aren't nearly called the same.

The sign language itself could be quite different where I'm from, but I'm glad that wasn't the case for you; I'm sure it made things much easier.

Oh, I can't? I wasn't aware.

( It was obviously pushing to say something nice about yourself!!! But she can take pity on his flustering: )

Shall I answer this once, then? "Green".

Nearly every country has their own. Most of what I learned is British Sign Language, from Great Britain— or England. Some countries have written languages in an Arabic script, or Latin, or kanji, which are symbols written in a number of strokes that encompass an entire idea in one "letter". Their sign language is just as varied as their cultures and their languages. There are different ways of communicating, but some are universal enough— gesture-wise, I mean.

But no, there's no universal sign language. I suppose much the same way as everyone here can understand one another while speaking, I too understood most of your sign language. The rest was context and interpretation of your gestures, I think. And sometimes you mouth along. That helps.

( It might be their next recovery game; first was going longer periods between washing his hands, then practicing with contact with others, and... self-love had to count, surely. He may not be so anxious and tense if he could tolerate himself a little better, surely. )

I think you're making up rules on me, but I won't argue too badly.

That sounds quite nice, to have a universal language. I suppose most places teach English these days as ours, back home, but it's far from a guarantee in many parts of the world yet.

And you're a terrible liar, even in text. 🤭

( TOO LATE. )

Perhaps that will be our next exercise, then. Identifying things you can say about yourself.

I think you've been making great progress. And it's just something to think on, really. A sort of downtime or meditation or shower thoughts thing.

You never know when you may need to describe yourself to others. I think I would have a great many nice things to say about you.

But it's only "sometimes". And it's getting less and less. It's still progress.

No one is ever really good at speaking about themselves, but sometimes necessity calls for it and you have to have something at the ready. If I had to speak about myself I'd say I'm dedicated to good causes and intelligent, and easy to speak with. Thinking about it ahead of time means you won't have to think of it on the spot.

That's all right, isn't it? You'll get there. You go longer without washing your hands and you've been braver in trying food and drink with me, and I'm sure with others. It's all right to need a few safeguards still. It's only been a few months. You have an entire lifetime's worth of routine to overcome.

Things you may not even expect might set you back. What's important is that you keep trying despite it. And I think you've done just that.

It would be good if you did write something down. Keep adding to it as you think of it. You never have to show me, but I would enjoy it very much if you could find good things to say about yourself. I'll cheat a little and give you the first one, ok? "I always listen to others and remember little things about them that matter."

You've made quite a lot in just a few months; it's all right to own that and not hold too tightly to it that it drags you down if you backslide a little. I'll always have ahold of your other hand. We've both stumbled through it a bit, but I'm proud of you.

( He's done great, well and truly. And he's made important strides and overcome quite a lot of difficult things, even if it was only with the assistance of the moons— it still counted. It gave him solid proof that the worst never came. )

Sure it is. It creates a deeper connection between you and makes them feel understood by you when you remember those little details.

Lily ponds.

( No, Angela, you're thinking of impressionism, like Monet. Oh well. Water = color palette = Monet's landscapes and rivers, close enough. )

( Give her a few minutes before she answers again: she's painting. )

You make it up to me every day by being my friend. You give yourself too little credit; I enjoy our time spent together very much.
Though I certainly wouldn't turn down more of your cooking!
It's always been a pleasure.

As for lily ponds, water lilies are a sort of flower that grow on very large leaves allowing them the surface tension needed to stay afloat. They look like this:

( Attached: a slightly poor recreation of impressionism )

There was a famous painter that did a style... similar to this, but much better than I can manage on a tablet— Claude Monet. Some of his most famous pieces were of water lilies on a pond in his garden.

I'm always willing to try any and every kind of pasta dish you can think up.
I've even had one made with squid ink before! It was... interesting? But very silky!

It's one of many known styles; I wouldn't say they can all paint like this, and this is a poor enough imitation of it, but it was from roughly 200 years ago. He and a handful of others are internationally historic and incredibly famous. You would have to be quite the hermit to have never heard of them. Still, I would love to see your take on it, some time.
