[ Mikami is not okay. Granted, he hasn't been okay for 10 days now and most of that is not the fault of the strange alien planet he has suddenly been brought to, but being here isn't exactly helping either. He's gone through all the arrival procedures like sleepwalking and now he's spent a day or two just sitting in his apartment staring at nothing. A part of him still expects that this will all go away and he will finally fade into nothingness as he righteously should--- but that's not happening. He's still here, he's still breathing, and all of it is so so utterly wrong.

Mikami has never posted on the internet for advice before. That has always been the kind of lost and pathetic that happens to other people. He thinks about how low he's sunken and hits 'create account' on Prismagram. ]

I am dead. I have been made to understand that this is not the status quo. Why am I here then?

[ Some time after that existential crisis is aired to the public, Mikami sits down and makes an actual personal account that he intends to use if needed be. He's not much of a social media person, never has been, but it seems useful to have in a place that is entirely unfamiliar. ]

Good afternoon.
I have recently settled in Lunatia after my initial arrival procedures. While I have been able to gain a wealth of information from officials and don't require immediate assistance, there are questions that I feel are better answered by other 'Moonblessed'. If you have a moment to spare, I would be grateful.

How well have you found your education from your old life to be valued in this city? For obvious reasons, we are without our certificates and cannot prove whatever degrees we may have obtained in the past. How would one go about having their academic status recognized?

Naturally, most knowledge would not carry over one on one, but there is still merit in being able to cite experience.

How long has it taken you? The first time you were transported elsewhere.

A few months. Not as long as most would have. I had a bit of a head start, all things considered.

There were circumstances back home that had already shown me that things normally thought to be impossible were just improbable.

You seem to have had a very busy last few years. My condolences.

The last few years have been fine. It's been long enough since everything back home that it mostly just serves as a guide of expecting the unexpected.

[ Being stuck in the past in your head forever and ever is the only way to live as far as Mikami knows, so hey, it's cool. ]

A hard enough life lesson to learn. I rather liked when everything went as according to established parameters, but I shall bid that expectation goodbye now.

There are still established parameters, just different ones than you may be used to.

The last place I was, I spent quite a lot of time studying the way things worked and found that despite its seeming unpredictability, there were still patterns and a strange sort of logic to the way things worked. I'm sure if I had access to my equipment here, I'd find similar connections and logic.

Not too different from trying to decipher what the expectations of a professor are when you're taking a class outside of your main field of study.

What equipment were you using? I still have a hard time imagining how multiverse studies can be conducted, though I am very interested in learning and contributing my part.

The bulk of it was using various energy spectrum analyzers as well as a full range of DNA analysis tools to note the changes that the energy of Liminal space had on those who were able to make use of it.

All of that sounds fascinating. What was your profession in your world?

Senior researcher at BOARD -- A company specializing in unique biologic research with medical applications.

So pharmaceutical work?

That is also quite the high level profession to have been taken away from.

Some of it, yeah.

It's been a bit of a nice break, most of it. Allowed me to finally see why my Director of Operations kept trying to get me to take some of my vacation time. Though I'm afraid I'll have a heck of a time convincing her I've already taken it when I get back.

Taking vacation time is vastly overrated, but I am glad you've enjoyed it.

Easier to enjoy it when you know there's no time lost on your projects.

I assume you similarly have a large backlog of untouched days?

I do. The last time I took off work for more than a day was the week I moved into my apartment - four years ago.

[ This is normal behaviour to be proud of and not some kind of cry for help, yep. ]

A very good use for them. Mine tend to mostly cover travel time to get to international conferences.
