audio | writing this post made me want pie

[what's up everybody, your texan boy is here

the audio starts with a telltale flick of a lighter, followed not long after by an exhale from the first drag of a cigarette]

You know what's a damn shame?

I been here a year and I still ain't found anywhere that makes decent pecan pie.

I know I can always make my own. Reckon I can't complain too much about not findin' hometown cookin' on an alien planet, but... mhn. Still miss that diner down on 71 towards Austin. Mateo made pie so good you'd climb a dang power pole for seconds.

General poll, 'cause I got nothin' better to do. You miss any kinda food from home? Diner cookin', mama's cookin', anything.

Not really. All the food in this world is very unique with all kinds of different flavors. Some I never had before while others feel like upgraded versions of my head chef's recipes.

And I love the way my head chef cooks to boot!

[But if there is something she does miss....]

I suppose I do miss the ability to visit other towns and cities and finding their local specialties. Those are usually filled with all kinds of surprises in flavor and appearance!

[A light chuckle.]

...you could say that.

[Not a complete lie. She did know how to cook and bake, but on the level of a professional, not so much. However, she wasn't going to correct him. Better to be a chef than a previous World Queen bride candidate who gave up her humanity to become a guardian spirit instead.

She just loves food. Maybe a little too much.]

You know, that sounds like an incredibly good idea! [After all.] It'll be worldly delights instead of local ones!

[The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to ask every Moonblessed over their favorite snacks and meals. Just like this gentleman has done. Could she possibly read any comments made from others?

After thinking about it some more.]

I do think you mentioned something about pie. Pecan? What's a pecan? Is it a type of fruit where you're from?

If it tastes anything like walnuts or almonds, then it must be good!

[She is more into fruits than nuts; however she will admit.]

For a minute there, I thought a pecan was a spicy fruit. Doesn't it sound, by the name alone, like one?

[But now that she knows it is a nut, she'll have to keep an eye out for it.]

Do you add anything else to your pecan pies? Like ice cream? Whip cream? Or some type of syrup? I'm finding you can add those sorts of things to desserts now. It really does make them taste ten times better!

[Then again, everything in this world tastes a lot better than what she is used to. What is chocolate or adding more sugar to everything without being so costly?]
