Sometimes people are mean or petty or bullies because they are hurt or upset, that doesn't mean that they want to be that, or mean it. There are some who do, of course, but I can't know which it is until I know them, and so I assume they don't mean it until they prove otherwise. And not that many people prove me otherwise.
