Sometimes the world burns and it's something to be remedied; it's something to be fixed, to be patched up and smoothed over, and you go back to forgetting that it was ever burning to begin with.

And sometimes the world burns, and that's just the state of things. If it's not your new normal, it becomes your generalized normal rather quickly. It's not the end of things, it's just places you no longer go and precautions you become accustomed to taking. Adapt. Overcome. Evolve.

Things are settling again, for now. We'll see if it stays that way or if the scales continue to tip. But while I don't take pleasure in all that's been happening lately, I can't say I haven't missed being part of a world setting itself on fire, either.

Change on the scale that I deemed necessary required sacrifice. If i merely wanted death, there are more than enough ways to achieve that on a completely indiscriminate scale. However, that isn't what I was after. I'd think you would be aware of that much, but I'm also aware that that's putting too much faith in you.

i don't think rebuilding after an inferno is as romantic as you're making it seem. you're right in that it makes a new kind of normal and that people must evolve to survive. but does that really make them better? maybe some have the luxury of forgetting the things that happened during the fire, but many don't.

but maybe i'm not understanding your situation? i'm sorry, if so. why do you miss being a part of a more unfortunate world?

I don't know if I'd say my world is more unfortunate, per se. It's currently experiencing change that the world as a whole may not want, but ultimately will prove to have been necessary; I entirely believe that much to be true.

I admit, however, that those particular circumstances are ones that I've survived for a rather long time now. Perhaps it's something that I'm not certain what to do without, by now.
