manufactured: (001. your world is an ashtray)

Sometimes the world burns and it's something to be remedied; it's something to be fixed, to be patched up and smoothed over, and you go back to forgetting that it was ever burning to begin with.

And sometimes the world burns, and that's just the state of things. If it's not your new normal, it becomes your generalized normal rather quickly. It's not the end of things, it's just places you no longer go and precautions you become accustomed to taking. Adapt. Overcome. Evolve.

Things are settling again, for now. We'll see if it stays that way or if the scales continue to tip. But while I don't take pleasure in all that's been happening lately, I can't say I haven't missed being part of a world setting itself on fire, either.

You sound pretty excited about this.

Whatever fits your narrative, right? The circumstances were never what you like to play at them being.

Lucky us. I'd like to think it means I'll have a breather, but I doubt that.

Your evolution isn't the same as change. It's not adapting and overcoming. It's a goddamn bloodbath.

You can always fight fire
No one has any excuse to sit and watch things burn.
Or maybe your metaphor just sucks

That you deemed necessary. I'm plenty aware that your screws are looser than ever, Wesker.

Like I told you, you're just as much of a failure as anyone else that would've died or lost any shred of coherent, rational thought. Over four years alone I watched your mind's degradation. It was only a matter of time before you were the same damn pile of writhing tentacles.

i don't think rebuilding after an inferno is as romantic as you're making it seem. you're right in that it makes a new kind of normal and that people must evolve to survive. but does that really make them better? maybe some have the luxury of forgetting the things that happened during the fire, but many don't.

but maybe i'm not understanding your situation? i'm sorry, if so. why do you miss being a part of a more unfortunate world?

Makes all of that training in winter magic worth the effort. Mages are naturally evolved, I suppose.

Why would you miss the world being partially on fire?
Why
Is that not evil?

[Because part of what he says perks her interest but... How others are reacting, best to stay anonymous.]

It seems to just be human nature for things to be ablaze, perhaps to help them adapt and evolve? Or forget, as you say.
