It seems your situation is dire indeed.

What did you do back home, when gripped with such a terrible plight?

I can see why it would be such a marked change, then.

[ And, really, after a 1000 year war, he does. In fact one of his best friends has no hobbies either :') ]

That being the case, there is no harm to trying new things. You might end up surprised by something.

Perhaps not. But there are many things you could try, while you're here. Have you never thought of what you might do, if you had the time? Your mind never wandered to what life might look like were the danger abated?

I am sorry to hear that you are in such a position.

[ he's not naive enough to ask this guy if he could just leave; obviously if he could, he would have already. ]

It is strange, being here. We had only just brokered peace for my homeland. After fighting for so long, the change of pace, while welcome, still does not feel real. Filling the time can be difficult. But I would prefer the chance to try new things and reject them, rather than going back to the constant needs of battle.

Have you tried your hand at cooking? It can be a useful skill in addition to being interesting. When you've time to learn new things, there's quite a bit of creativity to keep your mind focused on it.

It's true, food is good. And there are many new things to try here.

[ it's really nice, trying to cook with new things!! ]

Some of the adventurers from my home have taken up other crafting trades as well, even things like goldsmithing.

I think that's exactly the point. It's something to get away from the usual. Making armor would be just another practical thing to do, part of the whole experience of training. But goldsmithing requires you to try something new, different.

Although the accessories certainly don't hurt.

[ you can't go into battle without earrings, bracelets, and rings!! everyone knows this! ]

I assume you aren't as allergic to them as flowers.

[ and he could make them for a special someone!! ]

The goldsmiths of my realm work with all manner of metals. I suppose the "gold" is something of a misnomer.

[ oh no that's actually cute...he's laughing!! Good thing it's text and he can't see him laughing at these lame jokes. ]

Perfect. "Goldsmith-but-open-to-new-experiences" it is.

[ Too late!! He's not laughing at him, he's laughing at his bad jokes that were probably supposed to land as biting sarcasm. Too bad! ]

Robotics...?

A month or so now. Perhaps we just have a different word for it, where I'm from. I've seen a lot of things that look like magitek.

From what I have noticed, my home seems to use different terminology than other places in a number of respects.
