Sermon #1 - text

[Just a simple little post from username 'Bluemarine', but it's posted for everyone to see and the option to reply in any format you like is there, should you feel like it. Somebody sure has the burning desire to ask everyone a question (or piss off as many people as they can, depending).]

How many of you believe in an afterlife? Or...What I should ask is; how many of you understand that you're slaves to fate and destiny, no matter how unhappy yours might be?

You're welcome to try and change my mind on that front, if you think you have the intellect.

[ he can only hope it’s been nothing but good things, but let’s face it, he’s always hoping for that. ]

sei familiare, si? Sto facendo molto bene, e tu signore?
Spero che ti stia adattando bene

there is no need to apologize
it’s best to go with whatever makes you most comfortable
I’m versed well enough in a dozen or so languages so I can keep up
where did you grow up that you have lived so far?

there are many different concepts of the afterlife
so I suppose it will work differently depending on one’s beliefs, no?
i have witnessed so much with visitations from nonno roma

that clarifies it a lot more
you have a very interesting way of starting conversation
do you have a big interest in theology??

I feel like I can relate. It can be difficult when you're trying to help but no one else understands... But I'm used to not being accepted.

That makes me feel so lucky! Thank you, hopefully Lady Luck keeps smiling on me.

But I wasn't speaking of souls. Immortal beings abound in my world. Some would call them gods but I can't claim to be an expert.

In my experience however, fate is inexorable. My kind deal in the business of time and in a way those two things are linked together. To use the words of a friend, time, or fate, is like a river. It may change course. It's banks may take new shapes. But these small shifts affect neither where it is coming from nor where it is headed. I'm sorry if this wasn't the contrast you were looking for though.

I do not recognize that text at all. How sad.

Essentially, it explodes.

How rude.

When we die, our rukh return to the great flow. In my world at least, that is not a matter of belief, but fact.
However, it is interesting that you would mention fate and destiny. Those who utterly curse their fate are said to have "fallen into depravity"
The rukh in their bodies turn from white to black. And if they die in that state, their souls can never rejoin the great flow

Right. Sorry. Most people aren't sincere.

There are some people who would rather be part of another story than the star of their own. Being the star of your own story isn't exactly pleasant if your story is a tragedy, or a horror story.

I'm a cheeky chap, what can I say! I see a man with a fascinating point, and I must take a long route around to tell him I agree with him. It's my unique social media presence! :)

Thank you, fate, for being so kind to me! I've made a fast friend through the internet.

They are simply living. To cope with living, they delude themselves. That isn’t a bad thing. Everyone has a reality they believe in.

It might be easier to show you what I mean, but I guess that’s not possible here.

I know my own path. I know where it begins and where it ends. Fate though does not lock everyone in. Only the willing it seems. The rest of you communally create your fate and the fate of the world around you.

Were you then?

Yep. Just one of the stranger jobs.

Being a mercenary sounds like an adventure any time you talk about it...

But the place smelling like old man makes it very believable.
spah: (but i don't think hank done it this way)

[personal profile] spah 2019-05-30 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
No kidding. Kind of surprised me, but made sense when I thought about it. Hell's probably packed with all the worse kinds of smells, besides old man. But I didn't stick around for long.
bloodisthicker: but i'm still not reopening your arena (that's rough buddy)

[...well he’s just gonna respond as “tarrlok” because he doesn’t get these newfangled net handles yet...]

I guess I can’t argue with the idea that there’s a pretty certain binary path for most people back home, which is either that you get reincarnated or you hit enough of a spiritual peak that you can ostensibly keep existing in the Spirit World.

But really, I can’t say that I actually believe in things like fate and destiny beyond there being that technical end point, unless that’s what you’re trying to get at here. I suppose there isn’t really much arguing with the inevitability of death, but I can’t say I’m too bothered by that as much as the idea that there’s something actually governing the actual events of our lives before the end.

I'm not sure about the afterlife... but, I know fate isn't set in stone. People can fight to change their circumstances.

The future is never set in stone.

Curious thing to start off a conversation with an existential question. I wonder what you must be dealing with.

What do you believe in to be asking such a thing?

I will not try to change your mind. Where I am from...fate and destiny have set in motion a fight that will repeat itself time and time again. This is true no matter what we do, no matter how many times we gain a victory against the evil plaguing our world...
