03 | Text: Marriage of Backstay Sailor Boys

[Someone has heard Rasha's voice, but for Don - well. Loving himself is pretty much par for the course.]

So back in my time we have this thing called the Mickey Mouse club. A whole bunch of kids who sing and dance about Mickey Mouse. He's got a song.

Who's the leader of the club
that's made for you and me
M I C - K E Y M O U S E

And so on, and so forth. he's a talking mouse and he's Disney is amazing. He's pretty damn fantastic. He's not as great as I am but he's still pretty damn good. Where was I.

Anyway this boy band thing for those who are curious seems like the Mickey Mouse club and all of you look stupid in your hats and T-shirts. No class. No style. Nobody has any idea what class or style looks like and the only thing you have to turn to is my era. We defined it.

We peaked in the 60s. I'm at the peak. All there is to it, but I thought I'd provide some insight. Namely that. Children are dumb. And that's what this is.

[OOC: for anyone who wants to find Don, he'll be strutting around in his nicest 1960s cut suit at 100% Thot level 2 clubs flirting with anyone who gets close. Leave some action tags for him.]

It's all right.

[ What are you gonna do? People love talking down to the young, cute girl amongst cops. ]

I still don't think you're better than Disney, but you're definitely doing better than that guy.

[ Interesting take on the whole situation, to want to market it. Malcolm files that away. ]

It can, technically, though in that case I might be more inclined to call it gaslighting.

[ Yes, well. Most things don't go like people expect them to but that's life. Don should be used to it-- Jim would be surprised if his life always went along as he expected it to. ]

That's not how it works, Don, [ He chides lightly, sighing. Moving closer, he takes a seat by the edge of the bed next to Don, reaching out to hold his hand, fingers threading together. ]

I like you. I don't care about where or when you come from. You think... differently than what I'm used to, but that's fine. I get it. But I can't do... this. I can't treat this as some kind of transaction. I like having sex with you, and if you want to, we can keep sleeping together, but if you're just doing it as some way to pay me back for whatever I do for you, then I'm out. It's like you feel forced every time you kiss me or touch me, and that just makes it feel wrong. I'm sorry.

[ He's still confused, feeling as if he stepped on a line somewhere in that conversation. His earlier thoughts about Don just trying something new are pretty much gone. Something's wrong with him. Or, rather, something's changed him.

Finn just can't figure out if this is a conscious choice or not, but something definitely happened. Maybe at that concert he mentioned?

Whatever the matter, Finn follows him without complaint and glances around the store. ]
I guess sharing things are definitely part of happiness.

[ Jim huffs a chuckle, raising an eyebrow as he reaches out and plucks that cigarette right out of Don's hands. No smoking now, buddy. ]

You're not that terrible, stop that. And yeah, I'm fine with nothing serious. That's what I'm more used to, honestly.

[ Sort of how he's always been, even before becoming Captain. Just takes a lot for him to even consider anything more serious than a fling, or a friendship with added benefits. He likes Don-- they're friends. And the sex was great. That's it, he's not looking for anything more than that. ]

I wouldn't want you to be anything but yourself. Even if I might still call you out on some things every so often.

It's fine. There's nothing I can do about it but prove them wrong. If a guy from the 60s can do better, that's really on them.

I don't tend to judge people on much. It's all that free love hippie thing, like you call it, [ he says with a soft little chuckle. ] Everyone is accepted. Even with their weird quirks and peculiarities and different views on things.

[ And yeah, maybe compared to Jim's standards, Don has a very narrow-minded view on women, on sexual orientation, on society at large, but it's not fair to compare. Don's from three hundred years in his past, Jim can understand the difference there. ]

I'm sure you're not dead, [ he assures Don, squeezing his hand and leaning in to kiss him. ] But we can always think of something we can do to check...

I guess so? The worst you've done is tell me you could prove your skills. That's a lot better than a lame pick-up line.

[ Jim almost wants to tease Don about that, but as he's more focused on other things now, he decides not to. His smile twitches into more of a smirk at that question, and he lets go of Don's hands, resting them both on his legs so Don will stay seated on the bed where he is, while Jim moves to kneel in front of him. ]

I've got an idea.

[ He palms Don through his trousers, rubbing him between his legs. His other hand moves to the waistband of his trousers, popping the button open, then dragging the zipper down. He tips his head up to kiss Don while doing this, breaking away to start kissing and nipping down Don's neck and across his chest. ]

[ Jim chuckles, both hands tugging Don's trousers a little lower, just enough to uncover the bulge still trapped in Don's underwear. ]

You're not very patient, are you? I'm getting to it.

[ With the path his lips are taking, though, he doesn't know how Don didn't immediately guess where he was going with this. He lingers when he reaches Don's navel, hands resting on his hips, then his head sinks lower so he can nuzzle against his bulge, mouthing at his erection over the fabric of his underwear. ]

Have you seen the old - well, not that old for you - movie 'Gaslight'? Ingrid Bergman? It's about a woman whose husband manipulates her into going insane.

That's where the term comes from. It's psychological manipulation, to put it plainly.
