#001 | VIDEO (UN; PROFESSEUR)
[It's been a few days since Sycamore arrived in Lunatia, and he feels he's managed to learn the ropes well enough; there's been one thing that has stood out to him more than anything else, however. It's likely not what he should be focusing on, but...well, he's always believed in following one's intuition whenever it strikes.
When his image pops up, it's framed quite nicely, as if this isn't the first time he's spoken to others through a video network. He's seated himself in a quiet corner of Cafe Azure, leaning back in the chair and smiling softly into the camera.]
Salut! I do hope I'm doing this right.
[One moment! A waiter has appeared off-screen bearing a beverage, and the professor chats with them for a moment before he returns his attention to the feed.]
It's come to my attention that most people in this city have no idea what Pokémon are! Such an odd experience, but not an unwelcome one! I see this as an opportunity to educate those who are interested!
[Reaching underneath the table for a moment, he soon emerges with what looks like a small orange fox. Said fox is obviously very pleased with being on-camera, if the little pose it makes has anything to do with it. Sycamore, meanwhile, takes a quick sip of coffee after Fennekin has settled himself on the table, looking momentarily pensive.]
Ah, where to begin with such a topic...I am used to beginner trainers, yes, but not those who have no experience with Pokémon whatsoever! I have been mulling this over for a few days now-
[-while spending ample time in whatever café is nearby, because that helps the academic process-]
-and have decided that perhaps it would be easier if I gave anyone who was interested the chance to contact me personally!
[Smiling again, Sycamore pauses for a moment, as if finished...before slapping the table and surging forward towards the camera, scaring the life out of poor Fennekin-]
I cannot believe this! I have forgotten to introduce myself, amidst all this Pokémon-related excitement! I am Professor Sycamore, a researcher from the Kalos region! It would truly be my pleasure to share my knowledge with any of you who are interested in learning more about these wonderful creatures we call Pokémon! Let me give you an introduction-
[...or not, because as soon as Sycamore is ready to launch into his monologue, two more Pokemon pop up into the video...before the latter one accidentally bumps the camera and switches it off.

i mean there's a lot to go through but there's some interesting stuff to look at
also it's sanguis now
and it doesn't look like this one is your moonblessing
so you're up to 50/50 odds of being right about yours, instead of one in three
no subject
Ah, but you are Sanguis, are you not? I hope it's not causing you any trouble.
no subject
actually i kind of like sanguis in comparison to the others
i'm not too familiar with cordis but i'm definitely familiar with iris
sanguis is easiest to control for me
so i don't mind it really
i'm a dragon today though
that's sort of unusual
most of the time i'm not but every once in a while it happens
no subject
[....
seriously though can you breathe fire-]
Although now that you mention it; if I am to assume I am not Sanguis, then logic decrees I am Cordis or Iris. I still stand by my initial hypothesis of Iris, so...if it is not too much trouble, could you give me some hints about what I might be in for? Since you are familiar with it!
no subject
i'm not afraid or anything, that's not why i haven't
fire is just more of my friend's thing than mine
okay well
irises tend to manifest as animals like deer or bats or rabbits
...
which maybe you don't recognize uh
hang on
ok across the top are deer and bat
and bottom middle is rabbit
ATT: deerbatrabbit.jpg
no subject
Did you draw this for me? Thank you! It is so helpful! I think I recognise these...you said deer, bat and rabbit? Hm! I would call them, let's see....Deerling, Zubat-no, actually, Golbat, Golbat looks more like this picture - and Bunnelby! None of those choices are particularly bad!
[Imagine growing wings like a Golbat...being able to fly....wow!! That would be amazing!]
I actually think it sounds quite exciting. Perhaps it will make me a better researcher, to understand what it is like to have Pokémon-like appendages! We must focus on the positives, Jotaro!
no subject
you might find it kind of hard to focus
that's the other thing about iris
most of the ones i know
uh
they
they get distracted
during iris
no subject
[Alright, that's going to make him laugh.]
I'm not too worried about that. I've always been the easily-distracted type! My assistants complain about it to no end, but I've always believed in following your heart, wherever it leads!
[Even if that's to the local café when he's supposed to be working, but!! No one is perfect!]
But I appreciate the warning. I will do my very best to focus!
no subject
it's not the average kind of distracted
one of my friends owns a business here
he has to close shop every iris because of how
uh
distracted
he gets
no subject
[Closing for 8 days a month can't be good for the bottom line...]
Can you explain this 'distraction', in more detail? If you wouldn't mind. I have asked so much of you already, and you have been so helpful! I do appreciate it, Jotaro.
1/2
yes
but uh
look just
just hang on a minute
private;
the trouble with irises is that a lot of them will
they'll
they go into heat
which gets uncomfortable in a lot of ways
emotionally because they get really needy and desperate
and physically because
because uh
it's
it gets messy
no subject
Ah, I see. That would explain why your friend cannot man his storefronts, when the purple moon is in the sky! What a troublesome problem. Perhaps I should hope for Cordis, instead, although I'm sure that one comes with its own set of troubles.
[At least he's definitely not Sanguis? A desire for violence would be unpleasant...]
Thank you, by the way, for telling me. I do apologise if I made you feel uncomfortable! Perhaps I should prepare for rather intimate topics, when engaging in discussions of the Moonblessings. But the warning is much appreciated.
It seems we're definitely in for a fun time in this place, no?
no subject
look it's just
i figure a lot of irises find it embarrassing
i mean who wants to admit something like that
someone i'm really close to is an iris
and it bothers him a lot
so i guess just
you know
it's not something to take lightly
no subject
You sound like a very good friend, Jotaro.
no subject
the thing about being dependent i mean
sometimes you wind up getting really attached to just one person
that's sort of how it is for us
i'm sure it's different for everybody but
there's a chance that's how it'll be if you end up an iris
no subject
...
...actually.]
Forgive me, if this question is odd, but...were you close to your friend, back home, or did you meet him here? I suppose I'm trying to ask whether or not this feeling of dependence, or attachment...does it only manifest for those physically near you, or could it form for someone back home?
no subject
we're not from the same place
actually he's from about 500 years before i'll ever be born
and we're not really...hm
we're not really a good test case for a question like that
but that's for reasons that have nothing to do with the moonblessings
anyway i'm a sanguis so i can't really say what irises think
but
early on during sanguis i did kind of want to see one of my friends from home
but it wasn't anything i couldn't ignore
no subject
That's alright; thank you for answering me. You've been far more helpful than you needed to be already.
You said you've been here a considerable number of months...did you find it became easier to deal with everything your moonblessing brings, the longer your stay?
no subject
the first time i got hit with sanguis i wanted to just
hmm
i felt like i had to find everything that belonged to me and make sure everyone else in the world knew it was mine
plus i felt...agitated
i couldn't stop pacing and i wanted to fight
by now i've gotten better at separating out what's sanguis and what's me
for me that helps
the one exception is the iris i mentioned
i'll still get just as worked up about things where he's involved
no subject
Although, it's interesting, what you said, about your Iris companion. I take it your relationship is quite intimate?
[....]
If you don't mind me asking, of course! There I go again, talking before thinking....
no subject
i saw the guy telling everybody to stay away from his firefighter
that's pretty standard sanguis
anyway yeah we're uh
like i said it's a little more complicated than just the moonblessings
he's important to me
and he needs me
no subject
I can imagine that adding moonblessings into an already complicated relationship would cause some strain. I hope it doesn't trouble you both too much.
