#001 | VIDEO (UN; PROFESSEUR)

[It's been a few days since Sycamore arrived in Lunatia, and he feels he's managed to learn the ropes well enough; there's been one thing that has stood out to him more than anything else, however. It's likely not what he should be focusing on, but...well, he's always believed in following one's intuition whenever it strikes.

When his image pops up, it's framed quite nicely, as if this isn't the first time he's spoken to others through a video network. He's seated himself in a quiet corner of Cafe Azure, leaning back in the chair and smiling softly into the camera.]

Salut! I do hope I'm doing this right.

[One moment! A waiter has appeared off-screen bearing a beverage, and the professor chats with them for a moment before he returns his attention to the feed.]

It's come to my attention that most people in this city have no idea what Pokémon are! Such an odd experience, but not an unwelcome one! I see this as an opportunity to educate those who are interested!

[Reaching underneath the table for a moment, he soon emerges with what looks like a small orange fox. Said fox is obviously very pleased with being on-camera, if the little pose it makes has anything to do with it. Sycamore, meanwhile, takes a quick sip of coffee after Fennekin has settled himself on the table, looking momentarily pensive.]

Ah, where to begin with such a topic...I am used to beginner trainers, yes, but not those who have no experience with Pokémon whatsoever! I have been mulling this over for a few days now-

[-while spending ample time in whatever café is nearby, because that helps the academic process-]

-and have decided that perhaps it would be easier if I gave anyone who was interested the chance to contact me personally!

[Smiling again, Sycamore pauses for a moment, as if finished...before slapping the table and surging forward towards the camera, scaring the life out of poor Fennekin-]

I cannot believe this! I have forgotten to introduce myself, amidst all this Pokémon-related excitement! I am Professor Sycamore, a researcher from the Kalos region! It would truly be my pleasure to share my knowledge with any of you who are interested in learning more about these wonderful creatures we call Pokémon! Let me give you an introduction-

[...or not, because as soon as Sycamore is ready to launch into his monologue, two more Pokemon pop up into the video...before the latter one accidentally bumps the camera and switches it off.

[ Ah, yes. Professionalism. Something that Claude may or may not have ( depending on who you ask ). ]

A link? Could be, but it seems like Pokémon just take the place of normal animals in your world. So it's no surprise they come from similar methods of breeding.

[ Well, Setareh's not normal to anyone who doesn't have wyverns but... you get the point. She's still munching away after curiously looking into the camera, even as he gives her head a scritch. ]

She's about eighteen feet normally, give or take. She's pretty terrifying to my enemies but outside of battle? She's the biggest baby ever.

[ Only because he babies her. ]

I actually think she might be a little smaller than that, so maybe twelve or fourteen feet might be more correct, but I'd say that's probably the average height of most wyverns in my world when they're standing upright. They're big, that's for sure.

[ Not as big as a certain dragon he's seen. ]

I'm not sure, actually. Might be some magic? She's fine, though. She's the same as ever, just the size of a house cat.

[ Which, to be fair, is how big she was when she hatched. And she might be taking advantage of the whole looking small and cute bit. Like father like daughter?! ]

Do Pokémon get any bigger? I wonder if they'll be stuck at this size here...

Evolution! That's interesting. I didn't think there were creatures out there that could evolve in the blink of an eye. So it takes a lot of training and attention then... I'm guessing you have the attention part down pretty good, but not the actual training.

[ Makes sense, oddly enough. He didn't seem like a trainer, but he knew how to love and care for these creatures. ]

Oh, she's definitely the same. I think she might be a little more mischievous now, but that's pretty on par with her personality. She's taking advantage of this whole being small thing.

[ She loves the attention, that's for sure. ]

They're pretty mischievous like that, aren't that?

[ From his light tone, it's clear that Claude's also pretty amused by that. He reaches to pet his wyvern, a fond smile on his face. ]

Me, being a trainer? I guess I can see that! I've handled wyverns for pretty much my whole life. Wyverns and riding wyverns are fairly common in my world. It's a rite of passage where I'm from.

As for how we fight, like I said - I ride her into battle and shoot from her back. I use archery to fight. She mostly doesn't fight herself, but she's bitten at quite a few people who's gotten too close for comfort. She's pretty protective of me.

[ Oh, Sycamore. You cute, wonderful soul. ]

Unfortunately, it's something I've had to do a lot. As much as I would like to solve everything with pretty words, not everyone is all that receptive of that.

[ A small beat. Best to change the subject. ]

But luckily that's all in the past. Now, hopefully the only time I'll fire an arrow atop of my wyvern is for practice and for fun. The art of battle is in my blood, so I'll never actually escape it, but friendly spars are never a bad thing! It's a good way to keep your skills sharp.
