You know, if I was born a large carnivore instead of a small herbivore, I think I'd have started up some kind of brothel here...probably would have made good money in a place like this.

[that. sure is a way to get attention!]

Anyway, I'm only a small carnivore here some of the time, and there already seem to be plenty of those kinds of places. Ever since I arrived here and when the weather started getting nicer, I noticed that we were missing something...

[Haru swaps the camera to face forward, and pans a bit, showing off a relatively sparse, fenced-in lot with a good amount of raised plots of soil and flower beds already started. after a moment of showing off, she switches it back to herself.]

So! I've started up a community garden for...mostly myself honestly, but it's open for anyone else to sign up and use. I was setting up all day yesterday, and it's kind of been slow going. In highschool I managed the gardening club all on my own so I can do this by myself, but if anyone wants to stop by and help I'll treat you to some lunch! I know it's Sanguis right now, so plenty of you are stronger than usual... [she brings her free hand up to rub under her nose, smudging more dirt on her face as she mumbles:] you could probably put that to good use.

Anyway, feel free to stop by, even if it's just to sign up for your own plot of land. If nobody signs up then it's not too bad...it just means more space for me to grow my babies.

[attached to this post is the address, where the community garden is located on a once-vacant lot in Lunatia, Level 2. a sign up sheet is posted on the front door of the shed, and anyone is free to stop by and do their own thing at the gardens for the month of May.]

That's such a good idea! I bet people will really benefit from having it.

[It's afternoon, and so perhaps unsurprisingly Reimi is at work herself — possibly on break, though, given that she's checking the network instead of actually running things. The fact that she's got a mug of something on the table in front of her and a cat lazing around in a sunbeam behind her is probably equal indication of that.]

I don't think it matters whether you're a large carnivore or a small herbivore, you should be able to run the kind of business you want!

I thought so too! I've been spending a lot of time taking care of all the public plants that are around the city, but I figured it was time for there to be a space I could call my own.

I wound up with a lot of land with this abandoned lot, so a community garden made the most sense.

It's mostly that I would want to work at a space where others can enjoy either getting their hands dirty or just by looking at nice things.

Brothels and gardens are kind of similar in that way, but since I'm a herbivore I love plants and flowers a lot. Plus you can grow things to eat.

[sorry Reimi this line of logic really makes the most sense where she's from......]

...I mean, I don't go to a lot of brothels. Or any, really. But...I guess that would make sense?

What kind of stuff are you planning to grow? I mean, do you have a favorite?

It's hard for me to pick a favourite, so I tend to grow all sorts of things. I'm definitely going to get started with establishing a few perennials around here, start up a herb garden in one of the larger planters, get a seasonal flowerbed going, and maybe even a vegetable garden when the timing's better.

There's a lot to be done! I want this place to be as vibrant and as diverse as it can be.

Aw, I think that's great, though! I bet it'll be a really nice place to visit, too, when everything's in bloom.

How about a favorite flower, then? Do you have one of those?

And some things that are a little more annoying, like the fact that Sanguis is in full effect and she's got those damned dragon horns and vines coming out of her head again. Such a pain.

That is a wonderful idea! I grew up on a farm so I would absolutely love to have a plot!

It sounds like you definitely deserve it, after all that work taking care of things around the city. What have you planted in the new garden so far?

Hmm...it's hard to choose. It's kind of like asking a mother to choose her favourite child.

All plants and flowers have their purposes for being grown and taken care of. It's more that the entire process of gardening is my favourite thing to do, as opposed to having a specific single thing I like.

I like clovers just as much as I like roses.

I haven't started planting anything in my own plots yet, but I'm growing some native trees and bushes around for shade and decoration.

I planted a maple tree sapling so far, and have a few cypresses because they grow and fill out pretty fast. Chroma definitely helps with the growing process. I think I'll start planting a few root veggies. Probably some melons too.

I definitely want to get some snapdragons started up, and marigolds!

[she has a LOT OF IDEAS ok it's obvious she's super gung-ho about the future of this garden.]

I have a sign up sheet hanging up on the shed! It probably makes more sense to try to set something up to fill out online, but I like having paper copies to look over.

You can stop by any time and sign up, you're not limited to one kind of plot. You'll just have to bring your own seeds and starters, but I have plenty of gardening tools to borrow and use while you're here.

You're awfully hard to give a present to, you know that?

Well, okay, then, never mind. It sounds like you've all got it under control. How about if I just promise to come see it sometime, and you can show off everything you've done?

It sounds like it's going to be really diverse! I used to grow herbs and spices, back home.

How can you use chroma to help them grow?

That sounds like a good promise. Right now it's definitely still a work in progress but I'm hoping by the end of this month we'll be seeing some greenery and flowers.

I'm really excited, though! And I'm sure this project is going to have a lot of success, I know a bunch of people who like to garden so I bet there'll be a ton of interest!

If you're interested, there are a few smaller planters you could use here if you ever want to start up an herb or spice garden. I know it's easier having that sort of thing at home for easy access, though.

[she's definitely had to advertise her club to incoming first-years at her school, so this sort of thing isn't foreign to her. most animals just were never interested in joining the club. or maybe it was just her....]

As for using chroma with plants...I still don't really understand the process that well. I know I've read about how it's naturally transferred into helping organic matter grow, so it's not like I actually have to things any differently than what I'd do back home. Just planting and taking care of them daily seems to do the trick.

The plant life here just grows faster thanks to chroma being present.

You could probably give me a bouquet of daisies and I'd be happy, though a potted plant would be better.

And thank you. It wouldn't be the worst thing if only a few people signed up to garden. I was all by myself managing Cherryton Academy's gardening club and did pretty fine on my own... [her voice trails off, thoughtful.] But having a lot of interested people using this space is much more preferable.

You're setting it up all by yourself?

You're right, it's digital. I'm not bad with technology, but I can be a bit old fashioned when it comes to this sort of thing...

[she comes from a very....technologically Normal world. but she's not someone who frequents her Beastbook all that much.]

Sounds like a good idea. And don't worry, I know how to put my foot down to keep things from getting too crazy...luckily the space I managed to get is a pretty decent size for multiple plots.

I am! You can get a lot done in 15 hours, but I'm far from being all set up...
