I don't. I actually took this one for the purpose of setting up the profile only.

How many pictures of themselves does the average person even have?

That’s a good question. I don’t like having pictures taken of me, and I don’t keep them if I can help it. Setting up my profile was hard.

Oh, that explains why it is mostly family pictures. Having those must have come in handy, then.

Taking multiple pictures for the sake of advertising yourself to strangers online is a really uncomfortable thought. One was bad enough.

It’s hard to say if it’s worse when it works or worse when it doesn’t.

Speaking of, have you gotten any bites?

Surprisingly, yes. Since most people are here for the sake of actual dating or other more personal connections, I was not sure signing up would be worth it. But it does seem there are a few others who are interested in law enforcement and/or keeping as much personal distance as possible. I am quite surprised.

Have you had any luck for your game purposes?

[ Asking someone about video games is slightly surreal, but (even with the embarrassing boyband incident included) Seimei has always been a rather pleasant conversation partner and is one of the people closest to being 'a friend' in this place. Mikami feels he owes him some personal interest in turn. ]

As for my games, not really. You would think there would be more crossover between people who play and people who use applications like this.

Let him just blink at the screen for a little moment. People generally do not give him compliments about his appearance because they either see him in court when he's very intimidating or see him outside of court and are forced to conclude he has the cheer of stale bread. ]

This explains a lot about how I managed to secure positions on talk shows quite often. I liked it better when I thought it was for my opinions and credentials.

I’m sure it was for that, too. People are only televised to either give a real opinion or make fools of themselves, and I doubt they would ask you to come on for the latter. Being attractive just helps.

My family's financial situation was not great growing up. I didn't have access to a computer of my own until late in high school. Naturally, gaming devices were also out of the question. By the time those things stopped being an impossibility, I'd lost all interest.

Then an MMO would be a poor introduction for you. Now that you have a device here, I think there are some games you would enjoy. I’d be happy to play with you.

[ There is something about Seimei that makes him easy to talk to and easy to be swept along with. Nothing about the boy is forceful. He's pleasant, polite, and unobtrusive. That's exactly what makes him harder to deny. Mikami can easily push back against people who displease him or who come on too strong for him, but Seimei's just... a breeze.

And this breeze is not pushing Mikami towards the button to download e-scrabble.

It's downloading. I haven't played manual scrabble in many years, but I do remember enjoying it.

[ seimei doesn’t have to think of a better response to mikami’s comment when his device lets him know that the friend he’s invited has joined, and they can start a match. luckily, seimei doesn’t need to explain the rules… but he does think it’s a little funny to play a game like this in their non-native language. this planet is so fascinating.

he puts up a really good fight in the game, pulling off nice obscure words with obscure letters, but guess who didn’t study law and doesn’t have a whole plethora of legalese to pull from? this guy. more than that, though, he’s not trying to win. he just wants to whet mikami’s appetite for fun.

Mikami-sensei, you’re a tough opponent.

[ It stands to reason that nobody in the world has ever been as conflicted about playing Scrabble Online has Mikami is right now. Playing games is a waste of time. Socializing is a waste of time. Except here it isn't because it enables you to meet people who you can touch for money, which can be exchanged for goods and services. And as much as he hates that system, it at least serves as a way to silence his doubts while the match lasts. The match itself is... relaxing? Scrabble feels comparatively brainless to Mikami but not enough that he gets bored. He is... entertained.

There is nothing worse than coming out of the game feeling like he derived enjoyment from it. ]

I am not sure this really warrants upgrading me to 'sensei' - unless you really want extra lessons on law vocabulary without application in this world.

It was a close call. I am surprised I won.

[ seimei does not want law vocabulary. not even a little bit. a lawyer might be handy to have, but mikami’s knowledge almost certainly does not extend to this world—not yet, at least, though seimei thinks he recalls mikami hoping to return to school.

[ Attached is a timetable that is pretty vague in its contents, largely blocking out what is academy time, what is 'otherwise occupied' and what is free. It has the distinct impression of having been made for the benefit of others rather than himself. He figured it's easier to just give other people a reference for his schedule than to exhaust himself trying to set time boundaries over and over again. ]
