Depends on the context. Do you want to call me Sir, or do you want to call me Sir?

[ All fine and well with him in a flirty, playful context, not so much if Abel actually means it. He's leaning towards the former, though. Hopefully. ]

Oh, but that sounds pretty exciting too. How's that been going so far? Have you managed to make it work yet?

Either way I think you'd have to earn it. Find me a ship to fly and we'll talk.

[It's easier to be a bit forward, even jokingly, over text- he'd probably not make the same comment in person. But there's no real harm done either way, so long as Jim doesn't take offense.]

And it runs, but I don't think I'd have much confidence taking it out for any lengthy trips just yet. But it's nice, having a project to work on. It's no starship, but it's something.

Aw, damn. No such luck there. Had I a ship at my disposal, I'd be there right now.

But if you do know where I can try and get my hands on anything, even a short-distance shuttle, do let me know. Being grounded all the time is driving me a little crazy.

We're not the only ones who feel that way, the desire to fly never really leaves you I think. I'd been stationed in space long before I arrived here myself.

Hard not to wonder how many are familiar enough with ships to build something though, but it would obviously take a long time before it would be of any use. There are some used to shuttle people to and from the moons, it wouldn't entirely be starting from scratch.

[idle pondering mostly, but he maaaay have arrived with the entire schematics for a starfighter on him. not that a compact two person fighter ship was all that useful, or information he'd freely share, but it definitely left him daydreaming more often than not.]

Well, back home we have a massive team working on my ship, and that's going to take about a year. Granted, it's a massive thing, built to house up to a thousand people, so it's a little different than what you're probably thinking of. Still, they're a highly skilled team, and though there are a lot of Moonblessed here, I'm not sure we'd be able to find that many who'd have the knowledge and skills to build a vessel capable of space flight.

I've actually been thinking of asking what are the chances that I can pilot one of those shuttles, myself. Even if all I can do is fly to and from the moons, I wouldn't mind that. I'd be happy enough to take people back and forth.

Oh, no, of course, anything at that scale is rather fantastical, even here. I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to consider the possibility of smaller shuttles, even though they're mostly capable of brief, limited flights.

[man what he'd give to check out the enterprise though. that's a good dream, toiling away in engineering all day, warmed by the glow of the warp core. ahh.]

Like to the moons. I'm sure with your experience it wouldn't be that difficult finding a piloting position. I do a little work on those ships myself, maintenance, repair, along with some other things around the city. Still have a lot to learn, but it's been enjoyable.

[he's not really a front lines kinda guy without a ship but at least a little greasemonkey work made him feel like he was still contributing, ensuring the safety of prismals and moonblessed alike. all he'd wanted to do when he'd joined the alliance.

little iffy now with all the discontent going around, but he'd do his job however long he got to keep it.

Really? That's brilliant. I thought they might not want the Moonblessed working with the shuttles, but then they do welcome us into their security and government ranks, so that makes sense. I'll definitely have to look into it.

[ He does hope he can do both that, and get a job with the Lunar Scientia. No harm in asking, anyway. ]

So is there any chance you can show me the inside of those shuttles, sometime? Sounds like fun. I'm not an exceptionally skilled engineer, but I do well enough. I know what not to touch, if nothing else.

I'm still pretty low on the food chain, so to speak. Think more fixing a squeaky door than engine reconfiguration. Gotta start somewhere, I haven't been working there that long.

[it's not that bad but while he was pretty well read in mechanical sorts of technology there was that pesky element of magic here too sometimes- and knowing how to work on the ships back home didn't mean he'd understand the ones here.]

Frequent trips are made to and from the moons though, if you'd like a more practical sort of tour. There's not much to see outside the government centers but we're not restricted in visiting or looking around. Can't say I remember much from my own arrival so it's nice to have the option to return.

[he should look into joining the cargo ships that deliver to the moons tbh]

Aw. Well, that's a shame. But it's no problem, I'm sure I can think of some other excuse to meet you.

[ Look, he's not gonna play coy about it. Like he ever plays coy about anything. But anyway. ]

Your bike should be interesting enough. If you're willing to let me check it out, that is. Promise not to touch anything without permission?

[...Ah. Right. His experience lies more in the getting bitten and declared someone's bitch variety than the playful banter kind. Really. Doesn't help that he can pretty easily get sidetracked by anything remotely related to his work.

Back on track.
]

I think that can be arranged.

Never really a dull moment in the city, I'm sure we can find something to get into.

[ Well, biting's not entirely off the table, though not sure Jim would be as willing to call him his bitch. Seems a bit much... then again, he'd probably get off on being called that by the right partner, so he can't talk much. ]

Great. Let me know when you have the time for me, and I'll meet you up wherever. Just name the time and place.
