Ever since Majestas's slaughter of Port Sylvel and subsequent assault on Lunatia, I have felt uneasy about it

Majestas himself was revived because of chroma, which is to say, because of moonlacing.

Before that moonlacing had (to me) seemed uncomplicated — obviously beneficial in every way, and for everyone. Even when there were occurrences such as the activation of the Osse automaton, few people were actually hurt, so it still seemed obvious that any drawbacks were so minor they were scarcely worth worrying about.

But now, no matter what else chroma makes possible — however much new life it fosters or wondrous effects it enables —
the people of Port Sylvel will not be here to see it

The vast majority of the Prismals I have consulted with about this matter do not see chroma itself as a threat and do not wish for us to stop moonlacing. And certainly it is true that it does have many positive effects. And it is also certainly true that I will die unless I do it. And I do truly love the activities themselves.

But it no longer seems to me like something uncomplicated

[ oh boy, is he ever. ]

well... i get that

but at the same time, it's not our fault... it's not like any of us asked to be brought here where our lives were at stake if we didn't generate chroma

it's like a necessary evil, i guess

Indeed. It is a fact that we did not choose to come here, and that we had no reasonable way to foresee or prevent the tragedy. But knowing that intellectually cannot undo my feelings of unease...

And really, everything in life is a matter of risk and reward — in this world and mine, and I presume in many others. Anything at all that we do has a possibility of somehow leading to negative consequences, so it is not really like moonlacing is uniquely, inherently dangerous. But finding out just how serious the risk actually is, when I had wholeheartedly believed it to be more or less nonexistent... it came as a terrible shock

But
Like I said, I am trying to get past it

it'll take time, i'm sure. not everyone can compartmentalize that stuff once you find out about it

[ unlike... him... ]

i guess the best you can do is try to give something back to the people, maybe? honor those who were lost as a side-effect to all this shit
