She doesn't know how to cope with feelings of loss, so this is the best and most productive thing she could think of to try to get it out without wanting to punch everyone she speaks to in the face like she has for the past couple of weeks. [ She waits quietly for him to decide what he wants to say, but she gives him a sour, mildly exasperated look at what he says. ]

I've threatened to cut body parts off of way scarier people than you.

[ Not fun, she doesn't like being harassed. ]

[ when that doesn’t work, he lets the act drop—it’s all pretty meaningless to him, but he thought it was worth a shot. ]

That’s not very nice. I was trying to make you feel better. But I don’t really mind if you threaten me. My coworkers had a whole murder plot going.

Who needs a plot? I've got guns in my bag.

[ Well, sort of. They're a little more than normal guns. They're kusarigama-revolvers. ]

I'm kidding, [ about hurting him, not about being armed ] but don't do that.

Right, right. You want to be normal friends.

[ seimei can do that, he supposes. ]

Ah, but you might still want to murder me anyway, if we go that route.

I-- wait, what kind of mind trick is that? You're the one who's been pursuing me, remember? I just think you're okay.

[ she points at him as if she's caught him trying to trick her into friendship!! Sneaky!! ]

[machiavel]

[ seimei breaks into something that could almost be a real smile, if the way his ears perk up is anything to judge by. he’s pleased to be accused. ]

I almost had you, didn’t I?

I'm gonna pinch you again.

[ It's just a threat this time though. When she actually does it, she doesn't warn. ]

What? You’re so cruel. You really are a terrible criminal.

[ he’s having fun, which means he needs to get up and get out of here before he has a sincere feeling. ]

Please don’t let that pizza go to waste.

[ She reaches for her tote bag to stick the box in there, though she has to arrange her stuff in there to get it to the bottom, but she's careful not to show it. It definitely sounds more like clanking metal than normal purse contents.

Finally she says what she probably should've a while ago: ]

[ She may be a street rat, but she still has manners. ]

[ they really have bonded over this little conversation, haven’t they? seimei is sure she’s still hurting and will for a while longer yet, but without knowing—or caring—who seijuro and the other one she mentioned are, it’s decidedly not his problem. ]

You don’t have to.

[ thank him, he means. ]

Though I’ve exhausted my ability to be nice for today. Are you going back home?

For now. I've been staying out a lot but I think I can handle it for a while.

[ She has so much anger but she doesn't want to turn into Mercury's family either. She won't let herself take it out on Chihiro, which may have made it a little worse since she's not leaning on him as much as she should.

But at the very least, Seimei managed to can her down for the time being. At least enough to go see him. ]

[ seimei observes her silently, for just a moment longer, and then he nods—apparently satisfied with whatever he’s seen. ]

I can’t invite you to my home. [ he’ll put that out right now. no one is ever visiting him. ] But if you ever need my company, you do have my contact. I’ll respond if I feel like it.

[ he smiles when he says it, and then he raises his hand to wave her off. ]
