I can't say it is quite what I was expecting...
[As she starts to record, Padmé offers a gentle smile. She is dressed in a manner that is known in her own galaxy but which might well seem a bit strange to others. Yet they are clothing of a style that she dons on a regular basis to Senate meetings- a thick rich layered gown of velvet with an ornate hair piece haloing her head.]
While I'm not certain how long I will remain here, I do admit that I haven't been planet-bound since I was younger, and even then, it was due to schooling.
[Her voice is soft but also strong and those brown eyes are drawn away from the feed, regarding the sky for a moment. It is an atmosphere that holds no meaning to her, at least as its stands, but there are some things in this place that she can understand, that are universal no matter where one is. She does begin to speak again, her focus still out there on that great unknown, wondering just what lays beyond... Yet her gaze is drawn back and she gives a little nod of her head, before making eye contact again.]
But hello. My name is Padmé Amidala, a Senator for the planet of Naboo, and I offer a greeting. It seems, if I am to understand correctly, that we are all here by the same means, caught in the same situation.
Since it seems I will be here for some time, I would be interested to hear more about the places you call home, for any willing to share.
[There is a genuine warmth in her voice and her smile grows.]
I would, of course, speak of my own as well, for those who wished to hear of it. I am curious to see just how far a reach this place has, and whether Naboo or Coruscant or even any of the other planets that make up the Galactic Republic are known to anyone here, as the galaxy is a very expansive place, to put it mildly.

Guardians... Are you keepers of the peace where you're from them?
[As in turn, that is not a term that Padmé is familiar with. Then again, with so many planets and a war going on in the galaxy, there may well be an organization arising calling themselves that.
Although he clarifies a moment later.
There is of course the fact that Padmé does love her home planet, and the Republic as well, although she may be starting to get a bit dubious about it, especially as the war has continued to carry on for so long. The only way to win a war, is to never start it.]
Which do you prefer to be called?
[As that is the manner that Padmé would proceed in. Naboo does have a tradition of calling people by the name that they want to be called by. She does nod, a soft smile, knowing that she doesn't get home as much as she wants, but that doesn't change her love for Naboo.]
I fear I haven't been to my home planet much that often either. My duties tend to keep me quite occupied. I've only heard of Earth in passing here, as otherwise both mean, well, dirt or land to me.

Got it in one. That's why we try to do and sometimes we also help the Nova Corps with planetary threats.
[ He wonders if she's ever heard of them. Peter has asked the new people he's met in the city and so far none of them were familiar with the Corps. It's was strange but not terribly worrisome. Space is infinite after all. ]
Now that's not something I get asked often. [ Usually, people laugh first and then butcher the nickname to mock him. Her question make Peter's smile soften into a grateful look. ] Just Peter will do, miss. Might I ask you the same?
Ah, that's a pity. If you were so busy then maybe you can see being here as some sort of unexpected vacation. You're not really missing all that much about Earth, it can't compare to what's out there, the stars and nebulas are much more beautiful.

[Wondering as to the amount of space that it does cover. The clones had become the army of the Republic while the droids had become the fighters for the Separatists, but Padmé had rallied against both.
In her culture, people may not always go by their actual name. Even Amidala is not Padmé's proper last name, but one she has assumed when she had been elected queen.]
Padmé is perfectly fine.
[No need for miss or Senator or anything like that.
She does tip her head a little, a wry smile. Vacations are hardly in Padmé's repertoire, especially with the war raging across the galaxy. There is never enough time in the day and always more things to do.]
Very unexpected. I'm typically quite busy, and I don't entirely mind that.
[Maybe having a bit more alone time with her husband now and then, but even Anakin tends to be off planet more often than not.]

[ Their current situation has changed, though, that with Thanos murdering most of the Nova Corps and then wiping off half of Xandar five years ago. Peter still only knows bits and pieces, he didn't have time to talk to Rocket about Xandar's current affairs before he woke up in Prismatica. ]
Then I'll use that name. Nice to meet you, Padmé. [ Peter might tell his outlaw name to anybody willing to listen but he's happy keeping things friendly and casual.
He chuckles a little at her reaction to the words 'vacation. It might not have been much but Peter is used to paying attention to people's body language. When you grow up with a walking tree that can only say 'I am Groot' body language becomes very, very important. ]
Not a fan of the idea, uh? I can't blame you. There was a lot of things that needed to be fixed back in my world as well, I imagine it's even busier when you're a Senator. But...being here has given me a second chance to be with someone so I am not looking forward to leaving anytime soon. Not if I can only do it alone. I've hard that sometimes people just disappear the same way they arrived here.

[Of course there are allied planets even where Padmé is from. She has aligned herself with Senators that have a like mind. With Naboo's invasion, she had pleaded to the Senate, although matters ended up being taken in to the planet's own hands, with the Gungans and Humans, plus a few allies, driving off the threat. She supposes the biggest flaw is how long it can take for the Senate to move on something.]
I've never been the best at sitting still. I'm certain there are activities that I can find to occupy myself, but I was the same. I was in the middle of something before I arrived here.
[Off to seek aid for the war that had gone on far longer than it should have to begin with. Her expression does soften, thinking of her own husband.]
I hope things go well for you here then.

There are all sorts of factions and super-powered individuals all across the Galaxy, not just the Nova Corp. Injustices will always happen, it's inevitable, but people like Captain Marvel, the Corps, and us, The Guardians, try to keep them to a minimum.
[ The main difference with Peter's homeworld is that there's not an organization as big and with as much power as the Senate. It would be too difficult to maintain and keep from turning into something corrupt. He wouldn't trust it if it existed. ]
It's immensely frustrating, I'm sorry. We're in the same boat, it doesn't help but it offers some comfort. Have you checked if there are other people here from your world? That could help.
[ He gives a nod, the smile still present. ]
Thank you Padmé, I wish you the same.

It is hard at times. There often can be a breakdown of communication that does result in conflicts.
[But she is glad that at least there is something to govern, as she knows the turmoil that war can bring.]
There are two that I know from home. It has made things a little easier.
[Given that they are both men that Padmé trusts.]

I'm sure that as an Ambassador, you have to deal with that more than anyone. Perhaps we should try to talk about a more uplifting subject of conversation. Do you like music?
[ Maybe the weirdest thing ever to ask out of the blue but that's Peter Quill for you. ]
I'm glad to hear that. Familiar faces really make this place tolerable.
no subject
... does he know someone that doesn't, or is music his passion?]
Yes.
[Although it is slightly drawn out.]
Poetry as well, if that makes a difference.
[Not exactly skills that most parents on Naboo would want a child to cultivate, and she knows her own likely would have preferred her to go in to music itself, but she had never been as skilled with it.]
True. Although it is also nice to have familiar items as well. There are some that have been with me for years that I cherish, and they are here as well.

Both are good. Songs are basically poems with rhythm. Sorry, that was a sudden change of topic. I was trying to think of something that cheered me up and music does it for me.
Oh? Such as? I was lucky to wake up here with my Zune.
[ The Quad blasters too but if he has to pick between weapons or his music player, he will always choose the later. ]

A token that someone special had given to me long ago.
[Well cherished and well loved. His word though doesn't mean anything to her. Another language, or some brand?]
What is a zune?

Those are the sort of things that are worth keeping, I know it well. [ He had his mother's walkman, if anybody can understand the deepest meaning of presents, that's Peter. ]
It's a small device that plays music. It looks likes this. [ He carries the Zune almost always in his person so it only takes him a second to fish it out of his back pocket to show it to her. ] It has a lot of songs inside it and you can listen to them everywhere you go.

[It's priceless to her, a cherished token that she wouldn't trade for anything in the world, given to her by a young boy who had risked it all for a stranger, and who she had married in secret later.]
As the saying goes, credits cannot buy everything, that it is so very true.
[But her eyes drop to where he bring out a small device, not the most familiar in shape, but she can understand the concept.]
Music from your own galaxy then. It's nice to try something new, but it's always just as nice to turn back to something familiar and known, that holds its own memories.
no subject
[ Maybe not with the same emotional baggage his mother's walkman carried but it's very, very close. Peter often thinks about how both of his 'parent's left music behind for him to remember them. ]
It is. I have all the songs memorizes, the rhythm, the lyrics...some think it's silly but it brings me comfort when everything else doesn't.
Have you ever listened to music from Earth?
no subject
I don't believe that I have, unless someone was playing something here.
no subject
Ah that's a shame. I need to figure out if I can connect my zune to the communicator bracelet and copy the songs here, that way I should be able to send you some. But in the meantime, the bracelet comes with its own music app.

[She does like to work in silence, or what constitutes silence on Coruscant. There's always a hum of activity that is there no matter the time or day.]
no subject
[ Peter looks like someone just murdered his puppy just thinking about it. Amazing what some people call music nowadays. ]
no subject
Are they sorted by genre?
no subject
They are. Maybe you'll enjoy classic movie more? My favorite is still rock or pop. I recommend you those.
There's so many planets out there that know nothing about music, it's a shame that not all the arts are cultivated. Did you do that in your homeworld?
no subject
[She smiles.]
Naboo is well known for it's arts, whether poetry, painting, sculptures, music...
no subject
[ It's always interesting to know what sort of rhythms other species and cultures enjoy listening to. ]
That's nice to hear. Did you have any artistic inclination yourself? Or your heart has always been into politics?
no subject
[She gives a soft laugh.]
I was passable with an instrument, but words have always been my skill.
no subject
That's usually the case with skilled politicians. Representing a whole planet must be really stressing.
no subject
[She's more used to the formal balls and outings, but there has been a time or two where she could just be another face in the crowd.]
Naboo is fairly well off. It's other planets that tend to suffer more.
