The name's Cid Garlond and I'm not used to doing the announcing, speechy, public relations kind of thing but I'm gonna try anyway.

Back in my home world I ran an engineering collective called Garlond Ironworks. Ragtag bunch of fellows who were bright and talented but escaping persecution from the Garlemald Empire. Now I understand these names mean nothing to you but our main goal is probably something most people get: freedom through technology. The same kind of tools that the Empire was using to suppress us, we'd turn it around to fight back against 'em.

Not like there's any that sort of thing happening here, but I'm a sucker for familiar things and I've gotten me a fancy permit saying I can set up shop here. Garlond Ironworks is officially recruiting folks to help get it off the ground. Now the Lunar Scientiae are doing all sorts of useful things, but I figured we can really go wild and do things with less practical applications.

Also I'm not just looking for engineers! I uh, tend to forget that research projects require money so I'll need someone who'll make sure I won't spend it all at once. And someone to make sure we don't overwork ourselves and reminds us to eat, even if it means dragging us by the legs to get some food.

I'm a one man unit so far. I've got a whole datalog of Warriors of Light but they're uh... not really the engineering sort if you know what I mean. Perfect test subjects though.

Fair, I suppose. I'll just tell him he's good at being bad at feeding himself while working. That should work just fine, aye?

And I know what you mean, but you can't expect them to save the world and be perfect craftsmen all at the same time, now!
(Though I'm pretty sure some would be just that because of course they can.)

Speaking of, who is your Warrior of Light, anyroad? Is it anyone here, or- a hyuran man, perhaps?

It's a hyuran lad by the name of Kaelas Lannis. It's a minor miracle he's up and running, if I'm honest. Does that sound familiar? I'm sure at this point I've met Warriors of every race and affiliation.

More than familiar.
He was my closest friend here.
And according to him, I was his friend back on his star, too.
Which is intriguing, because I've only sent mine own Warrior of Light to fetch my son's nameday cake, and it wasn't Kaelas.
Suppose another version of me exists in the same world as yours, aye?
He had plenty of stories to share about you lot, though.
Especially about you and Nero, and your friends. Biggs, Wedge and Jessie?

I don't pretend to understand it, but I'll make a great stab at it.

Kaelas is a great lad, it's a shame I missed him.

At least you'll get to see him whenever you return.
Not exactly a luxury we'll all have, seeing as we won't remember this world.
That's why we've got to make the most of the time we have!
Besides, you wouldn't have met this version of the most Radiant Matriarch if you hadn't come here!

[ Even if the one in Cid's and Kaelas' world sounds more... accomplished and fun! She's jealous of hersef?! ]

Anyroad, I can also help you with any medical necessities. My brother and his buddies were always risking a lost hand or ten with their work.
