doctorize: (there's yet another me)

Well, initially I had considered the number 5 because it was the number of a building's floor I used to live and work from back home. So I suppose it's merely a sentimental reason for being fond of a number that reminds me of a place I used to spend so much time in.

... But then I thought about it further, and realized that it might not be my favorite. It's a nice number, but it's not interesting for me to really spend time thinking about. Just a fleeting thought of sentimentality before it gets dismissed by other thoughts on the mind. So I considered it some more, and upon thinking of the number 1, I realized that there was something much more interesting about that number in particular worth the time thinking about by comparison to any other that tried to come to mind.

Oh, is that how you see it? Interesting... I knew I was right to pick number 1: it offers a lot about how someone might think, even if what you said is somewhat of a normal answer to expect when you ask someone to judge that number.

[There's an implication in his words that it's not necessarily the interpretation Danny had for the number 1, but he doesn't seem to be forthcoming with what it was he actually thinks of it just yet.]

That's the first I've heard of someone seeing the number 5 as a lewd choice, though. Do you mind explaining that judgement further for me?

Hey now, you're the one who finds something that I find innocuous lewd. I don't see how asking for a clarification is playing into my hands, when really it feels a bit like playing into yours. After all, I have more to lose here by potentially embarrassing myself inquiring about something that might turn out to have been obvious to everyone else.

Not at all! I was merely giving my own opinion on how I see it.

[... But there's no doubt that Danny's finding amusement in this.]

[Danny very rarely has fun talking to people on the network, in all honesty. This however is proving to be an exception, for the moment.]

Oh my, really? But how can I possibly ruin your good name when you haven't even told me what it is yet?
doctorize: (are we waiting)

[personal profile] doctorize 2020-06-04 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, my apologies. [He isn't actually sorry.] In that case, please allow me to offer my own name in exchange to try to make up for it.

My name is Dr. Daniel Dickens, but you're welcome to call me Danny if you want. Most people seem to like doing so, anyway.

Well, primarily I work in psychiatric care for the Second Nature clinic here, but I'm also skilled in other medical areas of expertise ranging from something as simple as first aid to surgical proficiency in the event of emergencies.

[A jack of all trades, so to speak, with therapy work being his primary field... along with one other thing, but that "other thing" isn't necessarily something he's technically licensed for...]

I can't really give out exact numbers, but I will say that it's a smaller load in comparison to what I had back home... but in a way, that could be seen as a good thing, depending on how you look at it?

[It's better to be Danny's friend than his patient, depending on who you ask...]

Indeed! Of course, I suppose it's possible that there are people who really need it here but are refusing to seek help... but you also can't just force those people to seek out therapy if they don't want it.

Regardless, I at least have the offer out there for those looking for it, which I believe is better than nothing.

I hope so as well.

You still haven't given me an explanation in regards to the number 5, but I suppose I can let it go for now. Would you be interested then in telling me why the number 3 is your favorite instead?

[personal profile] doctorize 2020-06-16 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be sure to hold you to that, then.

[Maybe it's a little desperate, but Danny would be a hypocrite for occasionally coming off as desperate himself...]

But oh, I see now! That makes sense when you put it that way... I can't say for certain if I would change my own favorite for that one, but now I can understand a little better why you like it.

Oh no, perish the thought! It's a little early for psycho-analyzing people you only just met, don't you think?
