A lot of reasons. I think it's a beautiful and perfect number.
It's the right amount of everything.
3 wishes. 3 guesses.
As someone else said, mind-body-soul.
Everything is in harmony with one another.
But people forget this about 3.
They see it as holding the line between 1 and 2 most of the time.
It's a number that is considered ugly unless looked at carefully.
So it's never become ugly by association of people putting too much weight on it.
It's pretty as it is. It's perfect as it is.
It's whole as it is.
