who has tattoos or piercings? what kind? of those that don't, what would you get? what about scarification or branding?

I already told you what kinds of piercings I'm considering.

I haven't thought about tattoos, though. Mostly because it's usually criminals who get them back home, so they have a bad reputation.

I heard it was common for yakuza to get them. but otherwise I don't get the big deal. where I'm from most people with tattoos are just Rib players playing turf war pretendy fun times. /eyeroll

Tokyo has a genuine Yakuza problem, so having a tattoo there puts you at real risk of being mistaken for a criminal.

Some people get them anyway, but it's rare enough that people still make assumptions.

I'm used to the police being just as bad as the yakuza, so...

I never said the police weren't a problem, too.

They contribute to the fear, really. If they can't find a culprit, a scapegoat will do.

They might arrest someone on suspicions of Yakuza involvement purely for having tattoos, if they have a case they want to hurry and close.

I don't think the cops on my island care about the yakuza, though. They mostly leave them be.
