[ there's darkness for a moment before the camera clicks on to yukari, seated at what looks to be a kitchen table and holding a small potted succulent in her hand. the large deer antlers and rabbit ears atop her head are proof enough that it's iris, one of them twitching toward a noise off screen while she settles back in her chair.
satisfied that it's recording, she gives a little wave to the camera with her free hand. ]
Hey, everyone. So this "taking care of plants" thing is still pretty new to me, but he looks kind of sick, right? [ she holds the plant closer to the camera for confirmation, and she's right, it seems under the weather for a succulent. a few of the leaves at the bottom are yellow and look swollen, and when she brushes a finger against one of them, it pops off with no resistance.]
I'm not really sure what's wrong with him. Everything was fine a few weeks ago. [ her mouth turns down into a worried frown, brows knitting together as she turns her gaze from the plant back to the camera. ] If anybody has advice, I'm open to it. Tips would be great, too. Or...I dunno, anything.

More seriously, how often are you watering?
no subject
He's just a plant. Why would he care about who's in charge? [ said as she's given the succulent a name and is overly worried about its wellfare. hypocrite, thy name is yukari. ]
About three times a week. Is that normal?

Hi. I don't know as much about plants as some people, but I've studied them. From what I'm seeing, it definitely looks a bit.... hmmmm.
Out of curiosity, how much water are you giving it?
no subject
About three times a week, but I'm finding out that might be too much for the kind of plant he is. That would have been good to know a while ago.

Yukari!!!
I have no idea how to take care of plants, but I met Persephone a few days ago I am sure she could help you or at least give you advice!!!
Re: video; un: Ryoji
Hey, Ryoji-kun. [ she tilts her head to the side in thought, one of her rabbit ears also tilting with the motion. ] Persephone...? I'll take all the advice I can get right now, but why her specifically?

He's the sort that thrives in the desert, is he not?
no subject
Yeah, and it sounds like I've been accidentally drowning him since he wouldn't be used to so much rain. Too much of a good thing, I guess.

Oh...poor thing...
[she talks as though it's a child and not a plant.]
What have you been doing? It looks like you may be over watering it.
no subject
I definitely over watered him from what everyone's been telling me. I was watering him about three times a week when it should have been half that. [ she tilts her head backwards so that it lightly hits the top of the chair, breathing out a quiet, ] Ugh. And he was doing so well for a while, too.

Y-yeah. One day, I went from saying "it" to "he" and it's been that way ever since. I can't even tell you when it happened.

It seems others have already given you the answer. But, yes, try watering less often and make sure it's getting enough sunlight. If it's been planted for a while it should be fine with up to six hours a day. And like most plants, you'll want to make sure to rotate it every couple of days so that it can get sun on all sides.
Also, given that it's spring you'll want to make sure to fertilize him every so often through summer. Just a little bit should do as you don't want to overfeed him.
no subject
Okay...less water, rotate him, fertilize him until summer. Got it! But what happens if you overfeed your plant?

Would you mind if I came and looked at it in person, though? I could give a little encouragement to recover faster.
no subject
I don't mind! Wait, your encouragement isn't threatening to kill him, is it? Because someone I've met told me I have to "show them who's boss" to make him grow. [ crowley goodomens has some interesting gardening tips. ]

[ Videl, that is not helpful. ]
Anyway, uh, I think Haru knows a lot about gardening. Maybe she could help you if the answers everyone else gave you don't help?
no subject
I'll take anybody's help right now. I was kinda hoping he'd make it at least a year.... What does Haru look like?

How long have you had him? It's unlikely that disease would spread to a plant secluded in your home.
no subject
Since February. He's the only plant in the house and I've got him by himself so there's no way he got a disease. It's looking more like I messed up and gave him too much water.

As for the question at large I am afraid I will not be of much help, for I, Iskandar, King of Conquerors have traveled the world and seen much of the worlds flora but have not the knowledge to sustain their life.

its looking like i dont have the knowledge to sustain their life either
but you know what they say practice makes perfect. and its looking like he'll be okay so that helps

As others have said, definitely water it less. A lot of desert plants are able to go weeks without water, if not longer. It also might help if you get a pot where you pour the water into the bottom and it absorbs up through the soil, sometimes the leaves don't like water at all.
