video
[The camera opens to Crystal Beach. With the weather as it's been lately, nobody should be surprised that someone decided to spend a little time there. With the sun starting to set, the sky has burst into mingled red and gold, the color spread over the sea as well in gentle lapping waves. A small jostle, and the camera is all set on a beach chair that was the resting place of a few cute little dolls. Some were shaped like local animals, but among the others were a smattering of dragons, perhaps an inspiration from their recent dealings with Lyestellus.
Kanji stepped back and into the frame, dressed for the outing: A basic black speedo and a pair of snappy designer sunglasses. He didn't seem bothered by his choice of attire- it was too damn hot to give a shit anyway- as he lowered to his knees and settled next to his makeshift display.]
A'right... uh, yo! Ain't done one of these videos in a while. Few months, I think? Anyway, I'll just get right into it with the question I sometimes get:
Did I make these? Damn right I did! They're cute as hell too, yeah? And if somebody's got a problem with a guy like me makin' stuff like this, they can kiss my ass or get outta my way! This is what I do, and I'm damn proud of it!
[He sat up straighter with a grin.]
...For the rest of ya who don't give a crap and want a piece of what I can make, I'm open for orders. I make dolls, charms n' clothes. Hell, they can be clothes that accommodate ears n' tails or whatever when the moon changes. I can do alterations, too.
I'm gettin' better at workin' needles while transformed, too, so the Sanguis moon ain't slowin' me down much. Gimme a little more time, and that'll be nailed no sweat!
[He supposed that was it. Off-camera, there's a distinct panting. Kanji looked off-frame, too. Despite the hardened look right up until then, his expression softened immediately.]
Hey, pal... tired of diggin', huh?
[A large black and white dog pads in, some kind of jowly breed but it's sporting a strange pair of horns and very dirty paws from a digging adventure. His tail is wagging like crazy as he flopped beside the human, and is happy to get those tummy pets.]
Anyway... drop a line here or in the inbox.

Instead of a glass, he hands Kanji a goblet. His own wine is already half gone. He has brought the bottle out with him. ]
shit now i need wine
[Whoa, a goblet... he was totally fine drinking like a medieval lord or something. He took a drink and realized that he was definitely not much of a drinker outside of the occasional cocktail: There was so much from start to finish that he realized the wine experts weren't fucking around when they talked about characteristics of 'dark berry' and 'butter' and all.
Kanji's eyes widened as he stared at the goblet, riding on the warmth that slowly worked its way down to the belly.]
I usually get mixed stuff or sneak a little warm sake... this is really tasty!
hahaha hilariously i almost never drink wine :')
Have you tried the wine the dragons make? It is the best I have had here.
[ And, unfortunately, expensive. ]
I married into a family of wine snobs and they absorbed me into the fold
...Could do with a pair of wings, though.
[Another drink. Hopefully this stuff wasn't going to turn him into anything, but at this point he was just throwing all caution to the wind.]
no subject
Probably.
He refills his own cup; before setting the bottle down, he glances over at Kanji's goblet and raises the bottle, questioningly. The tailor did say one drink, and Cardan has no interest in pressuring him, but he also seems to be enjoying the wine...
And, if he's honest, it is nice to be drinking with someone, instead of by himself.
Which is all to say: if Kanji wants a refill, he's certainly welcome to one. ]
You desire wings?
no subject
Hell yeah! It beats public transportation and you get to see everything sailin' on by. It...
[He turned a bit pink again, but shrugged it off. Be honest, Kanji.]
Okay, this is kinda dumb to say out loud, but whenever I rained or snowed, I'd always stand outside and look straight up. It kinda felt like flyin'... or just fallin' in. It always calmed me down.

His next question may seem incongruous. ]
Have you ever ridden a horse?
no subject
[Someone would mistake him for some sengoku-era thug anyway.]
Closest thing's my two jinba friends, here in Lunatia. Uh, but they're centaurs.
no subject
Then this will be new to you in more than one way.
[ He rises, throws his head back, and chugs his wine. Then the goblet is set down, and Cardan is heading towards the door, clearly possessed by an idea. ]
Come. Leave your things here if you'd like; we will return.
no subject
[Okay, he will quickly finish his as well and move quickly after Cardan. What was going on?
Only one way to find out.]
no subject
Cardan descends down the stairs to the ground floor, and then outside the apartment. To the side of the building is a little plaza, and he strides straight to one of the decorative flower boxes.
Among other blooms, there are tall, green stalks with clusters of yellow flowers. After inspecting the plants briefly, he will pluck one and... blow on it. ]
Steed, rise and bear us where I command.
[ ...and when he tosses the flower to the ground, it will indeed shift and change, rising into the shape of a horse. A gaunt, yellow horse, with a leafy green mane and deep green eyes.
Cardan mounts it with the ease of a guy who encounters magical plant horses all the time, then turns to Kanji. Does he look a little proud of himself? It's possible.
His hand is out-stretched; his other is holding on to the horse's mane. He wiggles his fingers, urging Kanji to take his hand so that Cardan may pull him up on the horse's back. ]
Come.
no subject
Kanji stopped dead when the guy made a flower turn into a horse. How does- how does a flower turn into a horse? Was it a Cardan thing? Could he learn that- no. Easy, Kanji.
But he mounted as if second nature and offered a hand. Kanji didn't need to be told twice. His hand shot out to accept the other man's.]
no subject
Hold on to me, if you would.
[ That is all the warning Kanji will get before Cardan presses his legs into the horse's sides, and it... kicks off the ground.
And into the air.
Cardan will lean forward, holding onto the mane, his grin bright in the waning light of dusk as they climb towards the sky. ]
no subject
[He was about to protest, his face turning another shade, but the horse kicked off the ground and was on its way. Unsure of the balance of his own weight, Kanji's arms snapped around Cardan's waist, heart racing.]
Y-ya never said it was a flyin' horse...! At this point you're just showin' off!
no subject
[ It's a rhetorical question. He has to turn his head and raise his voice to speak -- the wind gets stronger the higher the ragwort steed climbs, and it does climb high. Cardan is glad for Kanji's warmth at his back as the chill seeps into his limbs.
The view... is spectacular. A landscape of neon glimmers to life as dusk rolls over Lunatia; the horizon is blood red with the fading sun, and the moons have appeared in their various phases. ]
no subject
The view, atop the terror, set his heart racing. He could never get enough of how the place looked as you rose above it. It seemed smaller somehow, less crowded.]
H-holy crap...! Do ya do this all the time?
no subject
Not in some time.
[ --why hasn't he? Too busy skulking around nightclubs, he supposes-- ]
Perhaps I should change that.
[ The horse has stopped climbing; it leaps through the sky, now, dodging advertisement drones as it flies over the city. The hard grip on himself has not gone unnoticed, but Cardan will not complain about it (for now). In fact, he sort of leans back into Kanji's warmth, now that he's not bending close to the horse's neck. ]
no subject
[Hell, he would if he had the ability. There's calling his Persona and sitting on a shoulder, but there was everything magical about riding a horse. It was the classic image.]
Man, seein' those drones beneath us really reminds me how obnoxious they are... a whole damn sky, and they gotta block it.
no subject
But they do have a certain colourful charm in the nighttime.
[ The horse doesn't have a particular destination, and it is getting colder as they get closer to nightfall. Cardan is going to direct the pony to make a slow, leisurely loop in the sky, enough to see much of the general neighbourhood.
By the time it will start descending, the city's lights will be fully on as night falls over Lunatia. ]
no subject
Kanji checked his watch when it gave a ping, in case he'd gotten a message. Instead, he was made aware of the hour.]
Whoa... uh, I guess goin' flyin' on a magic horse is one way ta spend an evening, huh?
no subject
[ The horse will touch down soon enough; its greenish hooves pounding the futuristic pavement before it stops, right in front of a flower bed. They are steps away from Cardan's building.
He will dismount, and then offer a helpful hand to Kanji. ]
no subject
Hah... that was way, way more than I thought it'd be! Thanks for the view, man.
how is Kanji so cute
Cardan only smiles back and inclines his head. With a wave of his hand, the horse disappears; in its stead is only a handful of rapidly wilting weeds, which he kicks over towards the lawn. ]
It seems this city has its charms, after all.
[ And with that, he heads back inside, holding the door for Kanji to follow. ]
it's his blessing and his curse
Kanji perked up further and headed inside. Right, back- back to the task at hand. He needed to get everything and start on his work. But don't mind him if he somehow felt lighter on his feet.]
