i got stuck on another world before ending up here. not all the people i knew there that i've seen around here remembr that place.

I have a friend who theorizes that rather than it being a memory issue, it's parallel universes. If a person leaves and returns with the same memories, it is because they are the same version of themselves. If they leave and return with different memories, that means they are from a parallel version of their world.
I do not know if there is any validity to either theory, but it makes more sense to me than rapid memory loss and regain, given we know multi-universal travel is possible.

It also means that your version of that person is still out there somewhere.

Your relationship is different here than it is back home.

[ He doesn't know anything about the person he's talking to, but that's what it is in his case. The things he's been through here with his two closest friends are things they will likely never encounter back home. It's time and development they can never get back if they lose it. ]

You would be surprised the turns life can take.

[ Riou was a soldier until a group of women couped the government, outcast and overtaxed all the men as punishment for WWIII and then outlawed all methods of battle except for rap. He really never saw that coming any more than he saw getting kidnapped to a sex-happy planet, so stuff that isn't supposed to happen in real life just seems like a long-distant past. ]

[ So it's possible to travel from world-to-world and not just home-to-world. Interesting. Riou doesn't really know what he could do with this information, but it's just another piece in the puzzle even if he doesn't know what the puzzle is making yet. That isn't the point right now, though. This person needs someone to talk to, not someone to analyze their situation. ]

its not so bad

im not a fan of the moonblesing stuff but its way more like home than that other world

at least its modern here

[ More advanced than the Earth he's from, even. But there's a lot more that's familiar and reminiscent of his old everyday life compared to that previous world. And even as much of a hassle as moonblessings can be, in some ways they're less of a pain to put up with when it comes to the weird local magical effects. ]

[ Someone he's already considered the possibility of staying here indefinitely for if that's what it takes to keep them together, and...he's kind of okay with that.

Or he was, until that recent disappearance made his situation a lot more complicated. ]

It sounds like you still have something worth cherishing.
I don't think it will be easy to get over someone you care about, but I think focusing on what you still have and finding a way to move forward with that important person is your best bet.
